The Triad has been expanded to a quartet The amp and pre I have in my main system at the moment are Mac, so I guess that answers your question. I haven't heard the others you mention, so I didn't pick the Mac over them. It was a brand I'd always wanted to try, and it was readily availa...
Pass Labs INT-25 or equivalent in another brand I think some of the Accuphase integrateds are class A up to a wattage that would drive those Heresy IVs pretty loudly. Prices in the States are a bit steep, though.
Why is most everything remastered? @voodoolounge Fair enough. I'm not sure why the intentions of the person who happened to engineer the first master should be given priority over other, qualified mastering engineers' ideas, though. In general, the choice of the original master...
Why is most everything remastered? I think it's a mistake to assume the original masters were intended by the artists. In the great majority of cases, artists had little to no control over such things. Record companies did.
Lii Audio S-10 Users For some reason, I had the idea the speakers themselves aren’t that heavy. I could be completely wrong. But the issue I had was more about the volume of space they occupy than their weight, and I have a bad back, so weight is a thing I always chec...
Lii Audio S-10 Users I was thinking along very similar lines not so long ago. I'm terribly curious about single-driver speakers. Eventually decided not to get them, due to their size. They're just too big for my space. Be interesting to hear from people who do own ...
Schiit Freya + Class A in Stereophile Most, but not all, people who post here don't listen to music. They listen to equipment instead. I have made the same observation myself People enjoy what they enjoy. As long as they're not hurting anybody . . .
Schiit Freya + Class A in Stereophile Been a long time since I looked at a Stereophile (or other audio mag), but didn't they used to put the "for the money" components in a separate class or something? I'd swear I remember something like that.
HiFi Rose RS250 About a month in, and mine continues to work flawlessly, for whatever that's worth.
Tannoy Stirlings on the way! I'll have to look into those HRS Nimbus spacers. At the moment I still just have a book stuck under the fronts.
Tannoy Stirlings on the way! So, I picked up a pair of scratch-and-dent Klipsch Heresy's. I've got them next to the Tannoys. They've been running a few days, now, and three things are already apparent: Klipsch rates the Heresy's at 99 dB efficient, and Tannoy rates the S...
Jazz for aficionados @mahgister If ever "it's not the years, it's the mileage" was apt, it was apt for Chet Baker.
What Is So Special About Harbeth? I think they sound awfully good, but, as has been mentioned, are rather overpriced for what they are. They do that magical midrange thing so many BBC monitors are known to do. If that meets your needs, and you don't mind the relatively narrow res...

Sumiko Pearwood Celebration II Okay, here's what I'm seeing in my manual. They recommend starting the VTA adjustment process with the tonearm slightly low, and working your way up to the correct level. This is because they've found it's very difficult to find the right VTA by... |
