What one product has redefined music for you?? Garrott Brothers rebuild of my Decca Gold cart in the 1980s - unbelievable in those days - vivid and it tracked without trashing your LPs.Now, it has to be my Avantgarde Duos, which I bought five years ago - stunning and completely changed my syst...

Best Glue for LP cover seams? Any contact adhesive is fine - Uhu, Evostick anything like that. A layer on each surface, leave to part dry and then put together. Works every time and doesn't require any need to clamp up the cover.Charlie
Feickert analogue protractor....Owners impressions I bought mine a year ago. I've been setting up turntables since the late 1970s. The Feickert is just great - the easiest protractor I've used.Charlie
HELP Horns, Stats or Conventional Speakers Go for the Avantgarde Unos. I own a pair of Duos and they're the best upgrade I've made in thirty years of hi-fi. Just be prepared to be patient with set-up. Oh and they will be ruthless in exposing any shortcomings elsewhere in your system.Charlie
Where are you today? Been with valves and vinyl since the late 70s. Moved to Avantgarde Horns a few years ago - best upgrade ever. Next best was my TRON tube pre-amp - now if only I could stretch to a new TRON power amp - that would then be it.Charlie
What is the BEST phono stage Try the TRON Seven. If you want a tube phono stage, this is great.
Protractor for VPI Aries-3 with JMW10.5i arm Try and get the Feickert. I bought one a few weeks ago to tweek my Platine Verdier, Schroeder Model 2 and Allaerts MC1B. It was a breeze. I've been setting up TTs for about 30 years now. the Feickert protractor is the easiest tool I've used in tha...
Any experience with Radford Speakers? I never heard those, but I did hear the smaller Radford Tristars from the late 70s/early 80s. Great speaker the Tristar. They were made by Arthur Radford of valve amp fame (eg STA15, STA25 etc). the Radford speakers would certainly have been consi...
Reel 2 Reel I have an old Revox G36, which I need to resurrect.Charlie
Questions about the vintage STD 305M turntable I used to sell them in Canterbury in the UK many moons ago. The STD305M was a pretty good TT at the time and was a true alternative to the LP12, along with the Logic DM101 and the JBE (slate TT) in the late 70s. Sadly it like many other LP12 alter...
Two-Year-Olds and Turntables... I use a large perspex cover to keep my Platine Verdier away from my childrens and our cats hands/paws.Charlie |
