What's the oddest thing in your music collection?
The first thing that comes to my mind is Hen House Five Plus Two/In the Mood. Have it on one of those Warner Bros sampler albums, I believe it is Limo. There were about 18 or 20 of them and I bought them all at the same time through Warner at a co...
Does anyone know of a repair service for Lamm amplifiers?
Mr. Lamm passed away in May of this year and I do not believe he had someone in place to carry on his work, his daughter actually answered the phone and handled his communications. I do believe it is an easy process of just switching the existing ...
Springsteen. Only the Strong Survive
If I had to agree with an artists' politics to enjoy their craft there would be a lot less music played in my home and also a lot less vidio/movies/tv watched. WTS, it seems all artist visit soul and R&B at some point later in their career and...
RIP Christine McVie
Just got through listening to her Etta James cover of I would Rather Go Blind, what a beautiful voice and seemed to be one of the special people in this world. Loved all incarnations of Fleetwood Mac but was always drawn to the early years with Gr...
Best Alignment Protractor?
Best is the best. Mint Best Tracker is the easiest one I have used, sold the Feickert which is nice but just didn't need all the different options it and the others might provide. The Mint is specific to the arm/table combo, mirrored and so easy t...
Hesitant to upgrade my phono cartridge
@paulgardner The SL stands for Shibata low output and you should have some life left to enjoy for a bit after you adjust
Hesitant to upgrade my phono cartridge
@paulgardner Your cart is signified by the SL and that seems to indicate Line Contact, if that be true you are at or nearing that carts usefulness, if it is an elliptical stylus it is way over it's intended use. WTS, if still useful I would take t...
Just a few words of appreciation for a still living artist.
I saw Gordon Lightfoot in 1982 at Jones Hall in the museum district downtown Houston, beautiful pie shaped seating venue with plush seating that an usher took you to your seat, The show was great, he covered much of his catalog and shared some ins...
Hesitant to upgrade my phono cartridge
Give us an idea of estimated hours on your cart and if you are comfortable with doing fine adjustments yourself. If you are hands on and the cart is within the realm of it's useful range the sibilance might be due to the cart being a bit out of ra...
Happy T day from Stan Freberg
Stan the man Freberg, certainly had a way with comedy, didn't he. Enjoy the music
Dynavector XV-1s What is the REAL story?
@labpro , the worst things in life are waiting on audio gear, especially tube based pieces and cartridge. I can normally judge right off the bat if I am going to like it but go though a love hate relationship until it settles in. The DRT XV1s is o...
Dynavector XV-1s What is the REAL story?
I would run it as is till you get at least 100 hours on that cart before making any judgements on the sound, once set up and dialed in the DRT XV1s is anything but lean. Enjoy the music
Advice on Repairs for Audio Research VT100 Mk II
Cleeds is right. WTS, you are half in already, so I would ask myself did the amp fit my system and would it be a long term fit that I can live with, if not sell and move on, if it is a keeper then bite the bullet and do the repairs and live happil...
