The secret to a great amplifier...
If we are talking suppositories, I am very glad it relates to fuses and not to something of, shall we say, a larger circumference.
Flat screen between speakers, again.
@baclaggI guess it is just a sign of the times the lengths so many of us are willing to go to a) satisfy our sound fetish and b) watch television. Unfortunately, my need for an aesthetically pleasing solution won't allow me to go the pillow route....

@mijostyn I already have absorption panels behind the speakers and will be adding additional panels to the first reflection points when I figure out how to do it properly. One side is open to my dining area and the other side is a glass patio door.
Flat screen between speakers, again.
@tuzarupa The rear of my speakers are 22" in front of the TV and the speakers are spaced only slightly wider than the width of the screen. The TV screen is angled slightly down to align with me when seated. Another member extolled the virtues of s...

@glennewdick I will definitely give the angling a try. I have a TV mount that allows for angling and of course it is currently set up to direct everything directly at my head.

@sojourn98  Funny thing is I actually have several cheap styrofoam absorption panels that I was going to experiment with.

@greenhorn20 Thanks for the feedback and sharing part of your journey. Oddly enough, the picture you supplied looks very similar to what I imagined mine to look like when complete. I am currently building two short racks used 1.25" walnut shelves ...

@twoleftears "Moral of the story: the most obvious place for acoustic treatment may not be the most effective."You mean like finding out that the best place for your sub is in front of a doorway?
Negotiate good price
Tubebuffer,Not surprised you specifically mentioned putting speakers in your gym.Honestly, I think your style is more suited to buying used cars, than it is for negotiating the purchase of audio equipment.Honesty, an understanding of the market an...

@lowrider57 What colour blanket? (Just kidding.)I have a comforter I can try, but I also have several 1' x 4' cheap foam absorption panels that are quite light. Perhaps I can attach them to a thin 4' x 5' panel and hang that on the TV with padded ...

Thanks for everyone's responses. What I should add is that this is only one aspect of my diving into "room treatment". Whatever the final solution ends up being, I do think I would prefer exploring an actual room treatment option, as opposed to th...
Flat screen between speakers, again.
@noromance Well that would certainly save me money and effort, but I do believe that the additional room treatment would improve my situation, rather than maintaining the status quo. Thanks.
If you could, what live performances would you enjoy re-living?
I am 65 years old and live in Vancouver, Canada. There are a lot of concerts I would love to revisit, but these few would be magical.Elton John’s first tour in April 1971 playing the Agrodome. A stripped down stage show before all the flamboyance.P...

Question For Those That Watch Movies/TV Through Your Two Channel System
I had a similar issue. I started out with a full 5.1 home theatre setup AND also a two channel setup, which I would switch between. I recently combined both setups by purchasing an integrated amp with a "home theatre bypass". This allowed me to us...
