@jriggy  yes!!!!! i should have mentioned the Lampi Amber II at a wee bit over $2k new is hyper good....mine on loan to brother, he loves it...his system Naim Unitiserve SSD into Lampi into ARC SP15 into Threshold T200 running Vandersteen 3A sigha...

m@andy2 my tube recommendations not based on fixing everything just improving what you have....Nelson certainly makes a fine very listenable SS preamp.....have you heard an Ayre ?

ayre gear need be broken in and warm !!!! i suggest leaving preamp on 24/7 and of course breaking it in....Charlie was pretty adampt about the need for a preamp for his gear to sound best..and IMo agree..there will of course be dissenters, who are...

in my studied, experienced and sometimes sober opinion.....the Sonata REF2 is a fine cartridge...my Grado experience ( all positive btw ) only dates to 1978 so roberjerman has me aced out....the Black is certainly more neutral and nuanced but in m...
