Speaker Break In...? Or listener “Break In”? The only difference I can hear consistently, every time, is how my system sounds immediately after start-up and during the first twenty minutes or so. Definitely improves during that time. Have never been able to positively, consistently hear any ...
Jumpers - how long is long enough If the manufacturer of your speakers allows for bi-wiring you should remove the jumpers and bi-wire them. They will probably sound better, I know mine do.
Phase Inversion, to flip polarity or not OP- you are very welcome. For decades I never thought to reverse speaker cables at one end. Then one day I did and it sounded better reversed. My focus is on imaging and soundstaging and that's where I noticed most of the differences. Good luck on...
Ugly vs Gogeous speakers I don't care what speakers look like, I just want to love how they sound. Having a dedicated room allows for that. When I listen it's with eyes closed, always. Focused, critical listening. Just me, sometimes also a friend. Saturday mornings for a ...
Phase Inversion, to flip polarity or not Unfortunately the elephant in the room is the fact that there is no absolute standard for polarity through the recording/mixing/mastering chain. Some albums are released in "correct" polarity, many are not. But like Elizabeth says it really doesn'...
Anticable Cables: what do you like about them thread? @drumsgreg Richard Vandersteen states "Jumpers defeat the main advantage of bi-wiring". Spade vs bare wire My ancient (1979) Vandy 2Cs accept only bananas. My Anticables were terminated with spades (for previous Monitor Audio Silver 8s). After cutting off the spades, I doubled back the ends of bare wire and seated them firmly into the 2Cs. Listened tha...
Speakers under $5000 maintained a reputation for quality sound over the last 15 years. Another + for Vandersteen and Magnepan
What is trully important? @kosst_amojan-Wonderful story! Thanks for sharing.Tom
BEST UPGRADE regardless of cost? Acoustic treatment
Bang for Buck OP- dedicated room is a great start. Next is room treatments. Then a dedicated line. After that, any gear swap yields typically small but definitely noticeable changes, IMO
Anticable Cables: what do you like about them thread? @drumsgreg - That's interesting! Thanks for the info about an option that might work for others too. Tom
I went to THE show and didn't make any friends ... Thanks for the post, Erik. Having never been to a show since getting involved in this hobby in 1975 I appreciate and enjoy reading the opinions of others. To all the nay-sayers, we all hear differently. Unfortunately, too many think their opinion ... |
