Best practices when conducting a DAC comparison
The thing is, getting to know an audio system takes time. Hearing its strengths and weaknesses is a process that requires time and a multitude of different recordings. Walking up to an unknown system and trying to guess what is what is bound to fa...
Speakers: Isolation?
Ugh, another person recommending roller blocks. I might actually have to buy a set now.. it's one of the few isolation pieces I can't diy well enough.
Speaker Cable Banana Plug Breakage
It really is the easiest thing, to terminate cables. You seem to have convinced yourself that you can't do it..If you can sculpt, or stretch a canvas, you can certainly do this yourself. You don't even have to solder, crimp connections can also be...

Also, slaw can get downright mean. Geoff just gets weird. Definitely different peeps
Support table or shelf for turntable
@slaw hi. I hope you've had a great day. I spent the day in the Ozark mountains, helping coach and organize a middle and high school mountain bike race. I've had no reception since I posted those humorous retorts to your posts this morning. So, an...

Bass Traps
Whatever I do, I don't want to mess with anything above 250Hz. If I do, my room will sound dead. Just gotta tame that bass!OP, sorry for the hijack. Thank you @auxinput and @hifiron for the recommendations and advice
Bass Traps
That's the limp mass plan I've been looking at. Thanks, I'll have to do the math and find my nodes. Room sweep analysis is just showing slow bass decay, not any consistent peaks.

Use the analog outputs from the Oppo into the Hegel. If you use the digital out from the Oppo into the Hegel, you will be using the Hegel DAC.I've no idea which is better. But your ears do! Try them both
Bass Traps
Thanks! Did you find the limp membrane traps were mostly effective with very low frequencies or were they reasonably broad?
Bass Traps
Not to hijack too hard, but any recommendations for bass traps for a very wide frequency band? I need to tame my bass between 20-200Hz. Most commercial traps seem to be more focused on a much narrower band. The best solution I've theoretically foun...
Help me narrow down some speaker choices
@msommers 😂 the people around me think I'm crazy. You just made me shoot beer out my nose..
