Audiophiles should learn from people who created audio
Hey, I free climb and hear differences in cables. I even feel differences in climbing shoes. Especially when listen to music on different cables. I'm an expectation-bias-loving fool.
Room acoustics
Hmm, your ears can tell you a lot, but sometimes there are some specific issues that are audible but not easily remedied. These peaks and nulls, which seem to be persistent once the easy room treatments are done, are so specific in their frequency...
Speakers: Isolation?
I’ve seen them, but they cost almost as much as my amps for two speakers. You need to buy a spike adapter for carpet..But yes, I'd love a set.
Speakers: Isolation?
I'm in the same boat. We'd have to get a spiked platform for each speaker, then put the roller bearings between the platform and the speaker. My main problem is that my right speaker is right next to the door into the kids' playroom. It has to be ...

I have a basement listening room with low ceilings.. two things I've done that have helped reduce peaks, resonance and echos: suspended ceiling with Armstrong tiles and fully carpeted. I'll check which model of ceiling tiles I have, they weren't c...

Have fun!

And I completely agree, great thread. It seems this is more technical than most want to deal with around here, since it involves more than purchasing an item and installing it.. but we do have many members who like to dig in and who are incredibly...

Oh, @willemj  , we can't post pics directly in a thread on this forum. You'll have to post pics on your systems page or on any image hosting site, then put links in your posts on this thread. Not optimal, but..

I've actually just started using REW and was pleasantly surprised at the measurements. I do need to tame my frequencies below 200Hz, but there don't seem to be any consistent peaks now that I've brought my orange tree in the room for the winter. T...
$1000-$2000 Floor-standing speakers for larger room w/NAD 326bee
I'm jealous you even get to listen to these things.. $62k, damn. That better be one bada$$ speaker!
Opening a can of worms
Let me they're this it there: DIY cabling reduces the cost factor significantly while still providing solid performance..Many arguments against cables hinge on their cost.. reduce that factor, then reevaluate.

@willemj I think we agree on things more than I initially thought. I’m a sceptic and remain sceptical until I experience any improvement myself. I would never say this is scientific. But it’s what I have to work with. As we’ve said, there isn’t a ...
Best practices when conducting a DAC comparison
You are certainly being thorough.. I'm interested to hear what you find. Keep us posted!

Thanks! I'll have to check that site out, sounds like a treasure trove..

Yeah, if the bowls aren't smooth enough, I'll be out $5. Not a huge loss.. I've definitely had an eye on the ingress engineering blocks because of you @bdp24. I'm still a cheapskate though, so will try dollhouse bowls first.
