Best comment yet on my system - Ayre QB-9 DSD
I recently just bought one too.  Out of curiosity, how much did you pick yours up for?
Need advice! Do I upgrade DAC or buy a new player?
I've been out of the CD game for years, so I really have no skin in the game when it comes to CD players..or whether you should upgrade it.  I will say, if you upgrade the DAC, if you opt to venture out towards other sources, you'll be able to use...
Be Careful!
I lived in Colorado for 9 years, recently having moved back to Michigan.  We had carpet in our basement and the static build up would make one hesitant to touch a light switch, let alone turn my gear on.  I used ACL Staticide spray.  Stuff worked ...
McIntosh C2500 to Pass Labs XP-20 Comparison
@goheelz Possibly.  I didn’t get into swapping out tubes and comparing them, so I don’t have a wide range of sonic memory for different tubes.  Kevin at Upscale Audio recommended the tubes, based upon my budget.  To his credit, it did change the e...
Pass Labs “House Sound” vs. McIntosh “House Sound”
@rost it’s preowned, so I don’t think I’ll need the 500 hours of break in!  But, I appreciate your comments and am super pumped to get it integrated.  The C2500 was the longest standing piece of my ever revolving/evolving gear setup.  Like a well ...
Advantage of PS Audio Bridge II over USB cable from PC?
Technically, you don’t have to run Ethernet.  You can buy an access point, connect it to your existing wifi network and plug your bridge into the access point.  I may be confusing the use of “hub” in your connection or maybe we’re referring to one...
Pass Labs “House Sound” vs. McIntosh “House Sound”
@almarg I do use the DEQX volume control for the sub.  I put in a set of RCA's, but just get AC hum.  I unplugged the unit, let it sit for about 10 minutes, then plugged back in and turned on...same result.  Read through the manual, I didn't see a...
Pass Labs “House Sound” vs. McIntosh “House Sound”
@david_ten Thanks for the input.@jafant I’ll post up after I’ve had for about a month.@almarg Hey Al, I’m going RCA/sub preout from the DEQX into the REL.
Pass Labs “House Sound” vs. McIntosh “House Sound”
@jbrrp1 thanks for the input.  You are 100% correct, their equipment does deliver and the industry needs more folks like Paul and his employees running these audio companies.  I've attempted to not like their equipment, rather, initially I attempt...
Mytek Brooklyn
I just purchased an Ayre QB-9.  Not that I wish the above misfortune/headache upon anyone, but I appreciate the thread, as it persuaded me to not purchase the Brooklyn.
Pass Labs “House Sound” vs. McIntosh “House Sound”
@almarg Thanks Al!  That’s a great thread.  Correct in my signal chain.  I’ll swap out to RCA’s, see if that alters.  I do believe I may be approaching the point where an additional sub will have to be deployed, right now I just have 1.  I’m using...
Pass Labs “House Sound” vs. McIntosh “House Sound”
All, thank you for the comments.@stereo5 That question cuts deep!  I do like the C2500, 85% of the time.  On most of the music I listen to, it is a pretty full sound, so to speak.  I often wondered if I was missing out on some lower end energy and...
Pass Labs “House Sound” vs. McIntosh “House Sound”
@lalitk That would probably help!I have a set of the PS Audio BHK300 monoblocks, which are driving a set of Dynaudio Confidence C4 Signatures.  I also have a DEQX Premate for Speaker/Room correction.  All of my power cables are Shunyata Research a...
A lot of hype about PS Audio, deservedly so ?
They do the assembly in Boulder, the product forms are stamped here in the US as well.  I did ask one of their techs if anything was manufactured in China, he said nothing is.  That may not apply to their older offerings, but the amps/pre/direct s...
Mytek Brooklyn
Any updates?  I was considering the Brooklyn as my headphone preamp/DAC.  Though I’ve read plenty on them, reading this def makes me think twice about a purchase.
