Need Some Answers Building My First Home Audio System, and using Cornwalls Date of manufacture - 1973Still not sure about the grill, but drivers are mounted from rear. Front mounted were introduced in 1986 with Cornwall II, so not much reason for an easily removable grill. IMHO, if they are in decent shape, I would leave...
Need Some Answers Building My First Home Audio System, and using Cornwalls djniteline, look on the back of your speakers to see if you can find serial numbers. If so, I can give you more info about them. I have a document with lots of detailed information about the Heritage Series from beginning to 2008. Depending on the...
To Bi-Wire or use Jumpers? cleeds, looks like ayonsinha1 hasn't taken Audio 101 yet or if he did, then maybe skipped class too many times. Here's another comment he made that jumped at me while reading a different recent thread."Only thing that matters is the gauge for anal...
Your opinions on how to string 25 ft speaker cables What 12 AWG cable do you have from Monoprice? Is it the clear or one of the CL rated ones that have a red and black in an outer jacket? IMHO, I would not use the clear in a crawl space.
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable? dlcockrum, thanks Dave, and best to you as well.mtrot, agree, and I also thank Al, almarg for his wisdom, always a good dose of soundness (pun intended)Now for those who still think the OP wasn’t bogus, I have some land, possibly future commercia...
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable? dlcockrum, ditto to the your last comment. It has been said, put 10 audiophiles in a room to discuss cables and they will emerge with at least 11 different theories. Now I'm thinking they will never leave the room!!
Dielectric grease on connection ends A basic definition of dielectric is insulator. That in itself tells you that the type of electrical connection where it is used would not be anything related to audio gear.
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable? "I just hope your post is true, otherwise you wasted all our time here, even though I laugh at times"IMHO, it's obvious that the original post is bogus, however, it does prove that audiophiles can't resist talking about cables. I'm sure the OP has...
To Bi-Wire or use Jumpers? The entire speaker cable hookup scenario is system dependent, and there is no answer to your basic question. The best answer is from another poster on this forum. "Bi-wire may or may not make a difference, and if it makes a difference, it may or m...
ROI. Where is money better spent? IMHO, I would suggest spending money on the weakest link of the system, however without knowing the system, any suggestion is somewhat like a shot in the dark. Listing your system would help to get you better recommendations
Any comments on DAC going direct to power amplifier or to pre-ampliifer? There is no answer to the original question. Answer will depend on specific components being used and what sound the listener prefers.
Who thinks $5K speaker cable really better than generic 14AWG cable? Sorry, but I see too many red flags to believe what the OP says."After the purchase of my system, I went to another dealer to ask for cable opinion"Then a 2 part test where the OP changes all the connections, totally blind and then tell the listne...
connecting mono amps to pre amp "then you would bridge the common/negative on the speaker terminals"No, use "COM" terminal on left channel output to speaker negative, then if your speaker is 8 ohms, connect "16" terminal on left channel to speaker positive. Also, connect a jumpe...
connecting mono amps to pre amp In addition to Al’s comment and hopefully he will verify or correct if I am not. After looking at the MC2120 manual here,http://www.berners.ch/McIntosh/Downloads/MC2120_own.pdfYou actually connect the speaker to the left channel output of the 2120 ...
