make that 1500 -2500
Speaker upgrade - suggestion
I recently changed my speakers (it was not really an upgrade). I auditioned a number that others have suggested (PSB Synchrony One, Totem Forest, Standmounted Dynaudio Contours (I forget the model), the Vandersteen 2CEs, and the VA Beethoven Baby ...
Gallo ref 3.1 users please chime in
I use a PrimaLuna Prologue 3 tube preamp with Wyred4Sound monoblocks (a similar set up to your amp). I love the combination of the tube preamp on the Gallos. It's a great deal at around $1500. The pre + W4S monoblocks comes in under $3500.
What is the best power cable under $200.00 retail?
I just purchased an Audio Art Cable PC for $150ish and am very pleased. Well built. Really does the job. I like it better than most of the PCs I have.
Amp for desktop system?
I have the Nu Force Icon set up (amp/dac, speakers, 'sub') and love it. I am really impressed with the whole set up. You would no longer need your existing DAC though. For perspective, my main listening rig is Rotel CDP as transport to a Headroom ...
Moderate floorstanders for medium room
When I was looking for small floorstanding speakers, I ended up with the Audio Physic Sparks. I really like the sound and feel like they have good extension on the low side for their size. They've been replaced with a new model, and I have seen a ...
Moving from PSB Stratus to Synchrony ... questions
I used to own PSB Stratus Bronze. I think that selling the Stratuses might be the only regret that I have in the cycle of buying and selling gear.I just auditioned the Synchrony Ones assuming that I would immediately fall in love with them but did...
What amp are you using with your Gallo 3.1's?
I auditioned a pair today. I am pleased to see that Dopogue has had some decent luck with a moderately powered tube amp and the Gallos. I currently run a PrimaLuna Prologue 3 & 5 and was a bit worried. I think I'd likely go down the route of t...
best speaker wire for extra long runs
My run was not nearly as long (19'), and it was not for my primary listening speakers; but I have had good luck with Analysis Plus Blue Oval. I'm using the cables with a Creek integrated and Audio Physic Speakers.
Acoustic Treatment Newbee
I feel like I have everything nailed except that bass that is hovering kind of high in the room. Since the Druids are bottom ported I just changed the height of the spikes a few times. I'm getting better overall bass, but those lowest tones are st...
Acoustic Treatment Newbee
I have played around with the speaker positioning a lot. I have not had the speakers toed in as much as you suggest. I have it toed in now and it helps the bass but also makes the speakers a lot less absent, if that makes sense. I also have the bl...
Grounding Hum
I have been dealing with noise/a hum in the path of my turntable and phono preamp. It's a royal pain. The only other suggestion that I have heard that has not yet come up here is to find a cheater plug (on that reduces the three prongs to two) and...
Phono Stage Hum
The Zu Xaus is shielded. I think that I need to: 1: Play around with the cable from the phono pre to the integrated. 2: I've heard that using a three to two prong adapter on the phono pre power cord at the power conditioner can help. The problem i...
Phono Stage Hum
I think it might be something external. I have slowly dismantled and reassembled my system. I also reset the impedance on the phono preamp. I have reduced the noise/hum significantly but just discovered that at very high volume levels (with nothin...
Phono Stage Hum
One more update: -I ran the turntable directly into the phono stage of my Creek 5350 SE. No hum. -I then ran the turntable into the JD 9A and the JD 9A to the Creek. Hum. It seems to me that it is clearly something in the phono preamp. Right? or i...
