After moving into a very small room I sold the Shearwaters. I now use the Meadowlark Kestrel Hot Rods which are my favorite speaker for a small room. They are easy to place, have plenty of bass and just sound great. I've not heard the Swifts or Sh...
What is the Best Sounding/Produced music CD ??
One of my favorites for audio quality is Lyle Lovette's "Joshua Judges Ruth." Originally purchased for the quality of the recording but the music has really rown on me. Another that worked just the opposite is kd lang's "Hymms of the 49th Parallel...
Out of curiosity, where does everyone live?
Brownsburg, In. just west of Indy
Anyone heard these? How do they sound?
Aball, what would this forum be without opinions on how equipment sounds? I've seen three paragraph descriptions on the sound of an aftermarket power cord here. BTW I read the editorial this morning while on the toilet.
Anyone heard these? How do they sound?
I've never heard Linn speakers so I can't comment on the original question. But seriously Aball, speakers won't "make" a sound until hooked to an amp but they do "have" a sound. Also, while the source/amp will be a factor, it won't be a big factor...
How Much Hiss Is Normal?
Over the years I've owned many different combinations of amps, preamps and more recently several integrateds. Slight hiss or hum at speakers is not abnormal. Some amps had more than others but I wouldn't necessarily correlate the amount of noise w...
One year anniversary -what have I learned?
Interesting idea for a thread. What I've learned after a few years with Audiogon is how little interested I am in owning super high $$ equipment. Also not interested in constantly swapping cables to find that last little nuance. Much like Dawgfish...
AH NJOE TJOEB vs NAD 542 for rock
The NAD is an extremely nice player for the money with the added HDCD feature. If you go with the NAD you'll soon realize the advantage HDCD can provide. I own a 542i and to my ears has bested a couple of highly regarded players that listed for do...
Warm speakers?
Ozzy62, actually it's pretty close to that. We moved into an apartment and I was lucky to have a space at all. We'll be moving into our home soon where I could adopt a larger room but that would require sharing the room with a tv or other activity...
Rotel 1062 vs. Arcam a65 plus.....
I owned a 1062 and an Audio Refinement Complete at the same time. While the Rotel has a few extra features That the very basic Complete lacks, I much preferred the Complete for about the same $ used. The Complete seemed to be built to a higher sta...
What are we listening for during break in?
Audphile1, I checked your system and don't doubt your hearing abilities. How can you not listen to our system for three full days while waiting for the cables to burn in? I can't remember the last time I went more than two days without listening t...
Warm speakers?
Thanks for all the suggestions. I'll have to research the Vienna Acoustics line. There was a dealer who sold them here in Indianapolis a couple of years ago but he's closed up shop. No matter what I decide, the Kestrels will stay with. Of all the ...
Warm speakers?
I briefly owned a pair of 2CE sigs. I was the only bidder on an ebay auction. They were way too big for my room so they never received a thorough audition. I also had a pair of Shearwater Hot Rods but sold them when we moved into this apartment wh...
Best bookshelf speaker under $700 used
Second the NHTs recommended by Rich. They work well on a shelf and are hard to beat for the price.
TECH GURU's out there, how to clean Circuit Board?
