Try Nickel Creek.
Is it advisable to power down CDP/Transport?
Leave it on.

Upgrade Suggestions
Driver is pretty much right on the mark. Answer to your biggest impact question: I would argue that changing speakers has the largest impact on a stereo system all else being equal.
At what length do component cables start losing pi
No and No. As long as the cables are well shielded you should not have any problems.
And what do Maggies sound like near a wall......
Like crap! IMHO, you need several feet behind to create a solid, 3-D like image with Maggies. Definately try before you buy.
TransParent Cables vs. Others
Check out Discovery's line of cables and also Analysis Plus Oval 9s.
yet another biwiring qeustion...
You can connect all four connections at the amp end then separate them at the speaker end. NO Problem with this. I have done it when I had only one stereo amp before I biamped by system.
crimping vs soldering
If you use quadutectic solder (contact Cardas Audio for a full explanation)I believe a soldered joint is more like no joint at all. Explore this avenue before you attempt any joinery.
Help. What phono preamp to buy?
Don't forget to look at the Audio Research PH3 or an Acoustech PH-1.
Speakers Upgrade Recommendation
I would suggest replacing your front mains with the Paradigm Studio 100s.
Need an integrated for sensitive speakers - Help
The Creek 5350SE works excellent with the Chorus speaker you mention. A buddy of mine purchased the two together and they are an excellent musical pair.
Got it pared down now - Revel, Dunlavy or Genesis?
Turn your music down a little and save your precious hearing, so that when you become old and feeble you are able to still enjoy your music!
What speakers for $5K Used?
Legacy Audio Focus loudspeakers or (if you are lucky to find) the newer Focus 20/20 model.
What do you look for when buying a used table?
LISTEN and INSPECT it thoroughly at a reputable dealer that will back the unit up with some kind of warranty.
