Have you seen the VR9SE Review?
Mr. Lavinge has certainly been on an odyessy with that room and all of the various equipment changes. It's very generous of him to take the time to share his experiences with us.One thing that bugs me about those speakers is that traditional hifi ...
Best monitor under 5k?
NHT Xd. Slightly more than $5K, but they include amps and stands. Better than the Dynaudio C1's and Special 25's that I used to own.
Dynaydio Temptation owners - what's you setup?
Consider Simaudio also. The W-3 worked well with my C1's.
Do Physicists Or Musicians Design Better Speakers?
It depends on what one considers "better".From one group's perspective, the purpose of a speaker is to reproduce the signal it receives as accurately as possible. I would think that a physicist would be better qualified than a musician to take on ...
How long and how loud
Play Prodigy's "Smack My Bitch Up" on repeat at 100db for a few days and I guarantee those woofers will be fully broken in. :)
Running Active Speakers - Neophyte Needs Advice
For 1k you should be able to find a nice used preamp that has balanced outputs. Whatever you do, DO NOT sell the actives and replace them with the passive version. You would most likely be taking a step backwards sonically.I have some active speak...
Aurios 1.2 under Velodyne F1800X Sub ?
First try an Auralex Gramma. It's only $60 and has made remarkable improvements to many peoples subs, including mine.
Dynaudio C1 or S25?
I have both the C1 and the S25 on hand right now, and frankly, I'm having a difficult time deciding which speaker I prefer. The C1 is definitely the smoother of the two. The S25 can sound a bit forward and therefore slightly fatiguing on certain m...
Velodyne DD Series
I don't think the 12 would sound any faster than either the 15 or the 18.
Audio equipment and cars...enthusiast thread...
I have a '96 M3 which I love to death. The stereo in it blows, but it doesn't bother me much.
Best subwoofer for 2 channel Hi End system
No other sub is as adaptable to one's room and system.
Velodyne DD-series subwoofer
I use an Auralex Gramma under my sub and it does an excellent job of decoupling the sub from the floor. It only costs $60, too.
Velodyne DD-series subwoofer
If money and the size of the sub are not an issue then just go with the DD-18. If size is an issue then go with the DD-15, you will probably only be giving up a few db's of headroom and a couple hz of extension. I have a DD-15 in a 21 x 15' room w...
Upgrade from Polk Audio LSi9's
Lush,I originally had the Special 25's in a smallish room (14x9') and I never found the bass to be out of control or boomy. I don't think that Dynaudio's are more likely to be affected by being placed near a room boundary than any other speaker (i...
Upgrade from Polk Audio LSi9's
I actually aquired the LSi7's for a seperate home theater system but I did put them into my 2-channel system for a week or so just for kicks. My system at the time was a Denon DVD-3800 feeding a modded ART DIO DAC, Innersound preamp, and McCormack...
