Buzz from speakers
My guess also is it may be your cable tv connection.I had the same problem and unplugged the cable tv connection and the buzz went away.Another possible problem you could have is i/cs and sp.cables touch or crossing over each other creating a buzz...
Supratek vs. Thor?
Being a Thor owner ( T1000 and TPA30 ) my guess is since there recently have been some new changes to the Thor peicesthe mk1 peices or mk1 pieces upgrade to mk11 status are usually priced very reasonable.I have an older mk1 and still love the peic...
How good are the B&W 801...Series 2 Speakers ????
My guess is if you didn't like the 802s you may not like the 801s. I loved them ( 801 ser2 ) but they are very similar and definately have a type of sound and are really not all that far apart in performance. To me they tend to be a touch warm and ...
Suggestions for B&W 800N
For solid state amps ,I have always like the Classe line. They always sound right to me. My pick for you pre-amp would be Audio Research sp11 mk2 .Great peice and has it all. Audience P/cords would work well for you too.
Acoustical wall panels
Some of the things you can do to keep it looking like it is being lived is by hanging quilts and maybe a quilt on a quilt rack next to your reflection areas. I found hanging a nice Indian saddle blanket behind the speakers looks nice and is very f...
Positioning KEF 107/2s or 104/2s
From what I remember both sound similar as most companies tend to voice there speakers the same way. I think room size may be most improtant. The 104/2 are a great speaker in the right size application. I would venture to say if your room is modera...

Listener57: I do remember Chris mentioning they offer a connecting device ( cheap ) that will allow you to Daisey Chain 2 cords together and plug into a Refrigerator for a week or so.. This would work great if you were going on vacation for a week...
Tube rolling advice-Manley Stingray-Help?
I've aslo tried the 6201 ( 12at7 )Gold pin Mullard and found it sounded like someone layed a blanket over the speakers. Too dark sounding for me. Many like the Mullard 4024 ,but I haven't tried them . Another 12at7 thats pretty cheap and sounds pr...
Tube rolling advice-Manley Stingray-Help?
I can't say about the el84 but the Telefunken 12at7 I have tried both the 801s and regular 12at7 and the 801s has quite a bit less body than the 12at7 ( I.M.O. ).Both are excellent 12at7 tubes, but if your system is really analytical the Telefunke...
MBL: Best for soundstaging???
I wouldn't rule out Kharma loudspeakers. There are usually many at all ( used )prices and the Kharmas ( all of them ) do the dissapearing act very very well.I have heard both MBL and Kharma ( not at the same time )and they both are incredible speak...
anyone heard the new thor tpa 150 monos?
I don't own the TPA150s,but do own and have owned Thor TPA30 and T1000 linestage for years. It sounds to me like someone has an agenda to bash Thor Audio products.I have had contacts with a other Thor owners for tips on tube rolling etc,and never ...
Tuff decision, need help
I have owned a pair of 801 for many years and enjoyed them very much. One thing I found is the 801 bass can also be a little round unless you put them on stands or spikes.Plenty of bass ,but need to be set up properly. The 801s tend to be a touch ...
Kharma 2.2 with focal tweeter upgrade
I can only tell you that I have the Kharma 1.0 and the Thor tube monos work great!
Line Condition /Pwr Protection on Mono Block amps?
I would stick with direct wall plugs and remove power cords from wall when your not using the system. This way you have protection and you can sleep at night!
