More output from Analog set up, MC Transformer?
Well, normally the gain should be enough for the 0.6mV of the Koetsu. Anyway, all I can say is, I stay away from transformers after trying a few and listening to a few. They push the Gain, right, but when connected to a FIRST RATE Phono preamp, th...
Tube amp for Quad 989???
"Great if all you like is chamber music"I think, most think that, because most don't use the right amp for them. Some time ago I listened to ESL 63 and it was driven from a FM Acoustics and it was simply unbelievable. Very loud, very holographic a...
Analog - Bang For Buck
One table which is very good sounding and totally easy to set up is a Well Tempered. Holds always it's settings, looks good, sounds good and is 2. hand the real bang for the buck.
Koetsu Father vs. Sons Old vs. New???????
Well, I guess, there is no real answer.I read an ad some time ago, there was an very old Koetsu offered and to raise the chance to sell, it was written, that the "Old" ones are the much better ones.Cartridges have a aging and so it is impossible t...
Atma-sphere M60s. What preamps work well?
I use them with a Klyne 7 Line Stage. Excellent match.
AT-OC9ML/II vs. Shelter 501 Mk2 using the JMW9
In the Audio Asylum there is a owner ( John Elliot ) who owns that AT OC9 and when I remember right, he says, that is is a real good cartridge. When he is right, then you have to go a bigger step forward, when not, then there are very much choices ...
Best cassette deck for transferring to cdr?
I owned a Naka Dragon. It was the best sounding cassette deck I ever used, it was very close to my Revox PR 99 Mk III.Really good. Sad to see these things go replaced from inferior but modern designs.
Any feedback on the Graham Phantom
That's indeed a huge advantage to all other designs.("I have tended to end up in the Graham camp as his setup is so easy and permanent").Trying a few arms and listening to some others, there is one fact for sure:It's worse out there. And Mr. Graha...
Any feedback on the Graham Phantom
" I am using the IC-70 phono cable. This cable uses extremely fine (read thin gauge)silver wire. I would be interested to hear comments on other cables..."I use the XLO Signature Phono Cable. My dealer had both ( IC-70 ).I think, in the analog Wor...
Preamp to use with Rowland mono amps
I used a Klyne 7 preamp for many years with my Rowland mono's. It was perfect.
A short afternoon of Linn, Basis and Redpoint
I think, you got it right. I listened the last years to 8-10 Linn LP12 with all kind of upgrades, and a few at special Linn dealers. At the very best it was mediocre, normally below average ( for me ). A hyped product, which is coloured through th...
Graham Phantom vs the Graham 2.2
No problem.I listened to various set ups with Schroeder. Some months ago there was a visit here from another Basis owner, he had a Schroeder ( Ref ) with the armboard from a Basis. He wanted to listen to a Miyabi ( and the Pass amps ), so we made ...
Graham Phantom vs the Graham 2.2
I think, everyone has it's own kind of sight, I compared last year the Schroeder with a Graham 2.0 ( no 2.2 ), in my System, same cartridge etc. ( it was a Takeda Miyabi ).The main difference was, the Schroeder creates a bigger soundstage ( hologr...
More power for my Duos?
I listened to the AG's a few times.I would match them with something really fast + good sounding amps.Atma-Sphere OTL for example, or Pass Aleph amps.
Graham 2.2 tonearm cables
I use XLO Phono Signature with that Arm.It is better than the Graham cables.
