what speakers would you choose for a hometheater?
Not knowing the size/dimensions of the room, and equipment associated with driving the speakers, it is difficult to make any suggestions. You say that you have 2 channel already handled, so I assume that you won't use these for music at all except...
What subs do you think will pair up best?
It dep...whoops. Velodyne DD18, because it has so many adjustments and can be taylored to the room.
Top 50 audiophile magazines to be reviewed in?
50 Tweaks...you've been busy! I can only think of a few published magazines which will be on everyones list, Hi-Fi, Stereophile, Absolute Sound and Home Theatre (which is debate-able as an Audiophile), and that's all I know of. But the cave is dar...
Linn Ekos weight adjust problem
Although I don't run beyond 1.8 on my Ekos due to the cart I have mounted. Your problem sounds out of the ordinary. You may contact Rick at AudioAlternative.com and maybe he can provide some further insight. If not possible to remotely help you wit...
What would you do?
I would ask the manufacturer to guarentee that the replacement drivers will be matched and demand an extra year of warranty in writing. Truthfully crap happens. Hense the warranty. If you feel that you will always be unhappy then the dealer should...
McIntosh :MC302 Upgrade from MC162 is it worth it?
Let me know what you think once you get the 302 broke in.I am so sure that you will think you have a totally new system.I was wrong however the 302 doesn't have the double balanced out put they don't employ that until the 452. But the biggest diff...
"How... Say... These People Dont Want to Hear
That's why I quit playing with my brother. He was googling the answers. Some just consider winning, a victory regardless of how they score. But it was fun.
McIntosh :MC302 Upgrade from MC162 is it worth it?
It sounds like you already have the MC302 on the way. I can tell you that you will hear a totally improved sound from your system stepping up from the MC162. I had a MC7205 which was a 5 channel version of the MC162 and changed to a MC352 then lat...
ARC LS 25, 26 & 27
I am not sure about the LS25 but the 26 and 27 have Unity gain. They bypass the volume circuitry but still send the signal thru the output stage. Give AR a call they are real helpful folks and can answer with more accuracy.
"How... Say... These People Dont Want to Hear
Actually I used to play a game with a friend at work and later my brother via e-mail. We would write two lines from a song and the other had to guess it. I hadn't thought of that for years. So continue; your line "tee hee hhe" is from a David and ...
what is wrong with my cd player?
I would start with Davehrab's suggestion. Have you tried turning the unit off for ten minutes and then tryed loading a disc. If it plays and/or plays a portion of the disc then stops. I would say that it is probably the power supply for the transp...
Low level noise from spkr when nothing is playing
It could be a ground loop issue, meaning that you may have a "dirty ground" feeding noise thru the amp. Have you tried a cheater plug to lift the ground and see if the noise vanishes? To be clear if your amp has a 3 prong plug, try one of those ch...
turntable isolation feet
As mentioned above, you didn't name the TT you have. But I use Aurios under my LP12 and they work fine. Before I had an rega P25 and used AQ Feet.
Road Trip
I would look at the manufactures website and see if there any brands that you have interest in currently not available in your area. Make a list of the dealers, it is a great opportunity to hear and see something that you normally can't in your ar...
Which setting for 6ohm speakers?
I always would set mine to the higher of the 2 settings. A dealer told me years ago that a 6 ohm speaker would not stress an 8 ohm amp and that you run the risk of overstressing a 4 ohm amp. Now I maybe wrong but that was the he described it to me...
