The thing about objectivists is...
Because no analog recording format exists that does not have a myriad of far more significant issues but is that relevant to the discussion? Perhaps? Our interpretation of reality is influenced by what we choose to believe and what we chose to bel...
Is blasphemous Music ok?
Bazinga!  @pesky_wabbit    If your beliefs are so fragile that the words of others wind you up then there should be self analysis about why you tie self worth so tightly to those beliefs.
Is optical mostly a waste of time versus Ethernet?
Reading something and understanding what it means in application are not the same. TCP ensures all packets are delivered including the logic to resend if lost.     Network transport protocols such as TCP provide endpoints with an easy way to e...
How to Solve High-Frequency Suckout in Room?
Have you measured it? Perceived lack of highs could be from too much mids.
Sound quality of Roon
With all Roon features turned off, what do people think Room is or is not doing that makes the sound better or worse?  DSP was about the only reason I wanted to keep with Room.
What is an AV grade switching power supply?
Let's go with mainly marketing BS. Bet they don't provide specs. Any quality PS has validated FCC class B test results. Most critical thing in audio is ensuring the switching frequency stays out of the audio frequencies and preferably high to make...
Basic question about power/watts
If you had 300 watts instead of 80 you would only have 6 more db. Watts and power are not your fundamental issue.
Sound quality of Roon
You buy Roon for functionality, i.e. music management, plug and play, multi room, and especially DSP. However since Qoboz does not think us Canucks deserve QBOZ and Tidal sucks, we went Amazon HD and there is no Roon Support. Don't really miss it....
Is optical mostly a waste of time versus Ethernet?
If using Roon none. If using and of the streaming services which are all TCP based with buffering and retry, none. If using something locally like HEOS, DLNA, etc. not sure all would need to be evaluated (on paper). I remember not long ago seeing ...
Basic question about power/watts
@timintexas  It ain't you amp. Don't waste your time chasing ghosts. If you can play them loud enough, and by your description too loud, without obvious clipping, then you don't have an issue, unless you are using a tube amp. Tube amps and maggie...
How did 70s rock music transition into 80s music?
Maybe we will get lucky and some of the truly talented, like Ed Sheeran, will get together with some other talented people and form a band. One can always hope. He is one of the bright lights.   We probably need a new business model to drive rea...
How did 70s rock music transition into 80s music?
@moonwatcher , I would say rock has evolved. 21 Pilots, One Republic, even Imagine Dragons and Billie Eilish are essentially a modern version of rock for their popular songs. What I see the issue with modern music media (many younger writers) is t...
How did 70s rock music transition into 80s music?
@moonwatcher , for all the popularity of Michael Jackson in the 80's, and all the New Wave bands, that certainly drove the buying habits of youth, the top selling artists were mostly identifiable with rock. Not exclusively, but mostly, and certain...
Is blasphemous Music ok?
What a crowd. The review was obviously tongue-in-cheek, and you are turning it into a philosophical / political soap opera.
