Loss of inner detail
Thanks to everyone for their responses so far. I may be using the phrase "inner detail" incorrectly. Here's what I mean .....Artist: Marisa MonteAlbum: Rose and CharcoalSong: Maria de VerdadeAs with a lot of Latin songs, there is a lot of percussi...
Musical Fidelity Tri Vista DAC, Should I upgrade?
Stringreen: I have a question about your post. Are you sarcastically saying, "That's what we do around here" in the sense that the VERY first post that responded to the OP's question wasn't "on topic". If so, I agree whole heatedly. Annoyed in Min...
Is this the END of DAYS for the high end CD player
I work at a computer 6-7 hours of my work day. It will be a long time before I make a jump to having my music on a hard drive. There is more to life that these damn machines, at least there is for now.
What's your favorite lyric from a song?
"and the three men I admire most, the father, son and the holy ghost, well they caught the last train for the coast. The day the music died."
The Beatles Mono Box Set or The Beatles Stereo???
goo goo ga joob
For crying out loud
hmmm, me thinks a blind test might not yield conclusive results. Skeptic :)
Sony SCD-XA5400ES-Best SACD for under $10,000
Kudos to you Prsmccarty if you garner that much pleasure out of micromanaging your system the way you do. I know you're not alone here, but it strikes me as a bit obssesive compulsive, IMOPerhaps the Clever Little Clock may help (Google it for a l...
Sony SCD-XA5400ES-Best SACD for under $10,000
Chayro - I don't believe the title of the thread, I know the Sony probably doesn't sound as good as a 10k player. That's not MY point. I just find your conversation silly. My Rolls is better than your Kia! Well, no kidding ..lol. *as an aside .......
Sony SCD-XA5400ES-Best SACD for under $10,000
The last 3 posts are comparing apples and oranges. The EMM is a $10k set up, while the Sony is 1/10 that cost. Most of us in the real world can't spend the value of a used car on a CDP.
Burn-in info for Sony XA5400ES
Buco hasn't a clue, ignore him/her. I bought this player new and noticed a tremendous improvement after 100 hours of continuous play. In all honesty I haven't noticed much of a change sense. I love this player. A steal at $1500.
Sony XA5400ES vs XA9000ES
I agree with Don c55's point that weight alone doesn't determine quality. I've had a dozen (literally) cdp's through my system in the last 7 years and 2 of the lightest ones had the best sound and the heavest one had the worst (in my system). Linn...
Rega Saturn or Sony SCD-XA5400ES ?
I currently own the Sony and did own the Rega once as well. Of all the players I've owner, the Rega Saturn was my least favorite in my system. Awkward CD "lid", goofy buttons and very colored sound. I'm sorry, I'm not good at descriptive words for...
Classical Music: A How-To Guide for Beginners
I'll speak in broader terms and not suggest any actual recordings. I'd recommend people listen to "chamber music" classical music as it's easier to "digest", IMO. A fewer number of instruments, less cluttered.Per Wikipedia:Chamber music is a form ...
the greatest pop song ever?
This is kind of a silly thread, who can name ONE "greatest pop song EVER", lol. But having said that, I think "Brandy" by Looking Glass is right up there. another vote for the Monkees version of "I'm a Believer" as well.
