Review: Stillpoints ERS Tweak
There is no question that used either in the wrong places, or in too much quantity that they will effect the balance. I isolated the power transformers and power lines within the CD player and preamp with very good results. I did get an increase i...
Aesthetix Calypso vs ARC LS25 MK2
The advantages to the tube dampers are immediately noticable and include better inner detail. I did not notice any negative effect, and if there was, it was much smaller than the improvement. Nice thing is - they don't need a break-in HEHE. (and t...
Aesthetix Calypso vs ARC LS25 MK2
Perfectionist, now that you have decided on the pre, tubes, and cords - I recommend getting Herbie's tube dampers. For the price, they make a very nice and immediate improvement on the Calypso as well as many other pre's.I first tried some standar...
The Night Air
I'm not sure my brain is ever relaxed :-) I did notice that my ceiling fan affected the sound dramatically when on high. The bass was muddy and the system lost focus. Seriously.
Fedex or UPS?
Unless its on a FedEx plane with Tom Hanks
The Night Air
I not sure I buy the argument that power is cleaner at night. With the average working couple, all chores are completed at night. I would guess that dishwashers, washers and dryers, microwaves, and televisions all have increasingly more night use ...
Symposium Ultra vs SRA
FYI - for some reason, I got a very nice improvement switching the aluminum coupling blocks that come with the Ultra to Mytle wood blocks distributed by Ayre. I had my reservations, but at only $15 for three, it was worth the try. They came highly...
Aesthetix Calypso vs ARC LS25 MK2
Forgot to mention that I use the Calypso with balanced cables from the Esoteric DV50 to the fully differential Denali monoblocks. Everyone agrees that the DV50 sounds better in balanced mode as do the Denali's and the system takes advantage of the...
Aesthetix Calypso vs ARC LS25 MK2
I actually noticed a larger difference when replacing the 6922 with Tungsrams as well as with some other 6922's. The bass became tighter and more extended as well as overall detail becoming better. The version of the ARC was a MK1.As far as dealer...
Aesthetix Calypso vs ARC LS25 MK2
I've finally ended up with the Calypso after a 2 year preamp search. I find it to be the most neutral and revealing preamp to date, with very good air, detail, and presence. Price was not an object in my search as I have owned a Hovland HP100, BAT...
Tube Pre with remote and 2 pairs of outputs
Sorry, didn't notice the $1000 limit
Tube Pre with remote and 2 pairs of outputs
The Absolute Sound Golden Ear Award Winner 2004, Aethetix Calypso. Best buy out there, with stock tubes....fantastic...with Tungsram tubes...to die for performance.
Please recommend a good Tube preamp.
Aesthetix Calypso.
Best speakers circa 77-79'
Dalquist DQ-10..Although this was introduced in 1973, there was clearly few that competed with them through 1980. Many versions exist through 1982 including mirror image pairs (1976), and crossover changes (1977). The only issue is that they need ...
