Creek 5350SE vs Music Hall Mambo- Anyone Compared?
I just bought the Creek 5350SE and am running it to Von Schweikert VR-1s in a small room. Of all the amps I have had, it is the most neutral. I was not looking for anything to color the sound and I think, so far, that the Creek is just that, neutr...
CD player with variable output
I have a new (modified Marantz) New Tube 4000 from Upscale Audio which has a variable output. Very sweet player, tube output, with variable volume out. $649 without further modification. Good luck!
Creek and Rega Remote Systems Compatible
I just bought a Creek 5350 SE and found out that it also operates my New Tube 4000 CD (modded Marantz). Pretty neat!
Match Amp to Spendor Preludes - Meridian or Creek
I just installed a Creek 5350 SE in a 12x10 room with tall ceiling, driving Von Schweikert VR-1s (about 87dB sensitivity). I am very happy so far. Very quiet, more than enough power, very realistic midrange, nice bass (at least for these speakers)...
Super impressed with Von Schweikert VR-1
I was able to complete the room for the VR-1s. Creek 5350SE for an integrated amp and a New Tube 4000 with upsampler for the CD. I may add a REL sub in the future, but for now the bass is quite sufficient for most music.
Need complete stereo help starting with preamp
I recommend listening to the Creek 5350 SE integrated. I bought it from music direct online (great service, by the way). It is wonderful: dead quiet, an honest 85 W/ch, has record outs, you can separate the pre-amp from the amp for future upgrades...
Why not Music Hall TT's
Love my MMF-7 and have no plans to upgrade. Goldring Eroica, felt mat, record clamp, separate power supply/motor, dustcover....hard to beat! Good luck!
DynAudio Audience 52: What Amp?
I am driving my Dynaudio 70s with Outlaw M200 monoblocks. They are very transparent and at 200 W/ch easily drive the speakers. I was using an older Denon with pre-outs until I stepped ou to an Aragon pre-pro. They are less than $500 new, with a gr...
Need Help Choosing New Speakers
I bought a pair of Von Schweikert VR-1 bookshelf monitors and have been very pleased. They are worth a listen. They retail for $1000, I bought mine for $700 as demo. They show up on Audiogon periodically for 500-700. You can then move them to be s...
Hsu Subs
I have the Hsu VTF-3 Mark II and it mates well with my Dynaudio 70s, 34 Hz at -3 Db. The bass is tight and clean, down to 20 Hz. It doubles for movies, but for me, the music is much more important. It is a big box, but in Rosewood it is pretty. If...
The best headphone amplifier for Senheiser HD-650
Head-Fi is the place to go for advice. My advice is to look at Antique Sound Lab. I am using the HD-600 with their MG Head OTL Mark II. It makes the Senns sound sweet yet detailed. I can listen to them for hours. I wish now that I had spent a litt...
best wife friendly monitor?
I once read that the best way to get your significant partner to go along with your choice of speakers was to find out what room she or he wants to redecorate and include that in your budget. No arguments, but it doubles the price. What is the cos...
I need a female jazz vocalist. No Krall, No Norah
Gunbei,Thanks for the recommendation. It is just the kind of music that I like. i have not heard of that album before. I llok forward to listening to it. Cello, voice and piano. great combination. I hope my system is up to it. Thanks!
Super impressed with Von Schweikert VR-1
I tried 28 inch stands and found them to be at the right height. I am limited by the bookshelves, but designed them to be about 28 inches for the speakers. When my wife is gone for a time I will pull them off the shelves and put them on the stands...
Super impressed with Von Schweikert VR-1
I was fortunate enough to get a demo pair from Primus Audio Pleasures in Kansas City. I am running them through a Denon receiver until I set up a separate amp and CD. I love the midrange. The voices and instruments are crystal clear and life-like....
