Looking to start over. How do you think this sound How much do you want to spend on a digital source? New or used? What kind of music do you usually listen to? These are some of the relevant questions. Good Luck!
Jolida JD-100A vs. Ah Njoe Tjoeb 4000 I agree with you Plinko: buy which ever one sounds better! It's hard to audition some of these units and I bought the Tjoeb unheard. Theoretically, the tubes have better harmonics (even vs odd?). But, its your ears that make the difference. Have fun!
Why do I need a phono-pre??? most built-in phono pre-amps are cheap. You will get better sound out of a dedicated phono pre-amp provided: your turntable is better, you have an open input on your receiver or pre-amp. Prices start at $100 and go up. Good luck!
Headphone amps I have used the Antique Sound lab DT/OTL headphone for the past year and love it. They have several options for headphones and pre-amps with headphones. Another cheaper option is the Antique Sound Lab speaker out transformer. Their website is www....
Jolida JD-100A vs. Ah Njoe Tjoeb 4000 I see a similar post about these players. Again, I love my Tjoeb 4000 with the upsampler. The sound is rich and detailed and without any softening or other "tube" effects. the harmonics are rich and pleasing. Good luck!
Jolida JD100 vs MF A3.2 vs Ah Njoe Tjoeb 4000 I love my new Tjoeb 4000. A great buy for $700. You can accessorize to your hearts content. I don't think I'll ever buy another CDP unless its another Tjoeb 4000 for my other system! I can't speak to the other units. Good luck!
SS integrated amp w/ A&B speaks & remote Ruebent, you are quite right. I wasn't paying attention. Sorry!
Budget speaker selection help I have the Atoms, which I am using for surrounds. Iin spite of very positive press, i think they are a little thin in the midrange and the bottom end is a little "tubby". They are okay for my home theater surrounds, but not for listening to music....
SS integrated amp w/ A&B speaks & remote I agree with the Creek 5350 (I have the SE model). Of course it would be better to audition it with your speakers. Are the B&Ws bright? Do they need much power? I am running my 5350SE with Von Schweikert VR-1s which have a fabric 1" tweeter so...
Sunfire, Paradigm or Velodyne The REL Q series are small amps with enough output for that sized room. I am using the Q108E for music in a room that is 13' x 10' with 17 foot ceilings and it has more than enough output for me. $750 new.
2nd system dedicated cdp: $500 Build quality a + Classe CD .3 is indeed built like a tank. Weighs about 15-20 lbs, has balanced and RCA unbalanced outputs, a wonderful DAC and a smooth yet detailed sound. You should listen to it first since it isn't for everybody. I like mine and have listened t...
2nd system dedicated cdp: $500 Build quality a + An advantage of the New Tube 4000 is the ability to upgrade, including to an upsampler.
Review: Music Hall mmf - phono pack Preamplifier Thanks for the review. I also bought this one on a lark after I got back into vinyl with a MMF-7. It really lets the turntable speak without any coloration that I can hear. I'm sure there are better ones and if I start to buy more LPs again, I wou...
Best MultiChannel for Movies and Music under $1500 I have used both ADCOM and Outlaw multichannel amps in that price range and think both are okay. The ADCOM was less reliable than the outlaw. I currently am running 5 M200 amps for my HT system. Either one is okay and especially for movies. It wil...
Subwoofer recommendations for mostly music I just installed (and am still tuning) a REL Q108. It made my Von Schweikert VR-1s even more perfect. I set up a small listening room which is 13' wide the back to the speakers, 10' deep (my chair backs up to the wall), and 13' tall. The REL sits ... |
