budget Cables / Interconnects recommendations?
There will be too many opinions to count. I am happy with my choices. Cables: Blue Jeans cables, Cobalt Cables, Speltz. Pre-amp: Modwright, PS Audio, AES to name just a few. Until you spend a lot more on the components I don't believe you will rea...
Different lengths of interconnects ??????
I ended up with two different lengths of interconnects. Absolutely no difference at all.
Class-D amps - a different re view
One thing about him-he speaks his mind and doesn't care what anyone else says. That is the prerogative of someone his age. It reminds me of the old phrase, "not always right, but never in doubt". I really appreciate his views on loudspeakers,cable...
Odyssey Lorelei vs Von Scheikert Vr4jr
I look forward to your review. As a fan of VSA, I have found that, as with most speakers, placement is key. My VR-4 JRs sound muddy if placed too close to walls. Like most speakers, they benefit from exact placement. When perfect placement is not ...
What is the correct way to use the Zerostat?
I have yet to wear mine out after 30 years.
Members with No Feedback
I started with no feedback, like everybody else. But I worked to build credibility, at least for someone who doesn't do a lot of transactions. Thinking of this another way, it is still better than ebay! Caveat emptor!
Tired of Expensive Speaker Cable. Alternatives?
I want to echo the comments about Speltz. I have tried many cheap and moderately expensive cables and prefer the Speltz over everything I have tried. You can afford to try it without penalty financially. I do not twist the wires. I tried it and we...
Jolida JD700 vs Jolida JD100A
I love my JD-100A from Underwood HiFi. I am sure that Wally will write you back, but he has always been very accessible by phone and will answer all your questions at length. I have not used the Jolida DVD player.
PC-Audio vs. High-end CD Player-GAME OVER
David, Thanks in advance for the help. I have not made the jump to PC music, yet. A couple of questions, if I may...1. Do you copy music to your ipod for the car?2. Do you distribute the music to other rooms in the house and do you need an RF remo...
Shorter or longer ICs?
If you search for previous posts you will find hundreds of opinions, all of them correct. I like longer ICs and shorter speaker cables. It is cheaper and I use shielded ICs. The ICs run 15 feet and 25 feet to right and left amps. The speaker cable...
Tube CD player?
I have no experience with the Raysonic, but Wally of Underwood HiFi has recommended it to me as better than the Jolida CD-100 I bought from him. I have both the Jolida and the Ah Tjoeb 4000 with upsampler. They are very different machines. I have ...
DIRECTION OF SIGNAL FLOW VIA INTERCONNECTS
Some IC manufacturers use a ground on the shield of the IC to dissipate any stray electrical interference. They will often show which direction to use the IC based on which end of the shield is grounded. I can't hear a difference. I don't have muc...
Power Conditioner Cheap?
I have come to the conclusion that it is the connections that determine the quality of AC to the components. That said, I have gone to dedicated lines, quality outlets that tightly grip the plugs, quality plugs that insert into the outlets tightly...
Looking for a warm budget monitors???
I love my Von Schweikert VR-1s. Lowest frequencies are flat to 60 Hz (-1 dB) and 40-50 Hz in room. Great midrange. I use them in my library mainly for small classical and jazz. They are beautifully finished. Used here on Audiogon would be a good b...
Bel Canto Digital Amps newbie query ??
I can only speak for the Bel Canto M300s-beautiful, detailed, neutral, with some warmth in the midrange, very solid bottom end, and very life-like. I believe these are the last amps I will buy, at least for a very long time.
