CD player NOT made in China under $1,000? This may or may not be an example. PS Audio made the Digital Link III in California under the watchful eye of Cullen. When the finished product was fully released it was stellar. Then the production was moved to China. Cullen had no more responsib...

Which solid state amp for Von Schweikert VR-4.5? I am using Bel Canto Class D amps with my VR-4s and a Modwright tubed pre-amp. I like this combination. Bel Canto will let you use them on trial if you want to try them out in your system.
bullet proof amp Outlaw amps are bulletproof. Any short and they shut down and reset when turned back on. I am ashamed to say that I have accidently "tested" them and they are very forgiving, as well as affordable.
Music Hall MMF 7.1 Turntable. Good choice? I love mine. Be sure to budget for a great phono pre-amp.
CD player NOT made in China under $1,000? The Njoe Tjoeb 4000 is a Marantz 4000 made in china, then shipped to Europe for modifications. It is a very high quality peice which I have used for the past 3 years. Trouble-free, but it is made in China. I also like my Jolida which is originally...
How would you run an audio salon? Buconero117 has most of the right ideas. I don't know about the sexy part. Also, loaner pieces, home setup of speakers, wide range of equipment (get that past the manufacturers if you can). Unfortunately many of the distributors of quality lines m...

Diffraction be gone As an aside, my Von Schweikert speakers have a similar foam surround on the grill. I discovered that when I had the grill off, the sound image was blurry. When I put the grill back on, the sound improved. It was then I discovered that the grill ha...
Directv music channel versus AM/FM Tuner ? Audiofeil - You are absolutely correct. Not even close. But, how could they be? Compressed and crowded with all the other profitable and commercial video feeds. And comparing them to the Mac tuners is unfair! When people are over to my house and t...
Directv music channel versus AM/FM Tuner ? I have been pleased with the Directv XM channels for background music during parties. It is better quality then regular FM. It is not even close to real music on a real system, but, hey, its free with the satellite! I also use it in the bedroom. S...
New Onkyo or Older Yamaha? I'm sorry I don't know the Yamahas. I have tried the Onkyo on its own and find it detailed, precise, and accurate. My tastes run towards the detailed soundstage end of the spectrum.
New Onkyo or Older Yamaha? I love my 805. It is everything I want in a processor. I don't use the amps in it. I don't use HDMI (yet) since my current RP-HDTV takes only component. It is a steal for the money. |
