Which of these SACD players would you choose?
No. Buconero is not a fool and I take offense at the post. Not everything works for everybody. This is a site where all opinions are welcome. For $60, some may find it a diamond in the rough. For others with the funds, it is not sufficient. Please...
Any body have experience with OPPO BDP-80?
Based on the original question, I think it is fair to assume that expensive mods are not what he is after. Personally, I see a lot of pressure to push mods and expensive equipment here. I think it is better to offer options within the OP's price r...
Which of these SACD players would you choose?
I respectfully disagree with Buconero. I bought a 595. Great price. Great service. Dull sounding. Instruments seemed mashed together. Sony was kind enough to take it back without question and paid shipping both ways. It might work for spmeone else...
REVIEW: Soundocity Speaker Outriggers
I have used these for the front on my Von Schweikert VR4-JRs and am very pleased. Very stable. I tried two per speaker but wanted a slight tilt up so I used the stock spikes on the rear and the Soundocity outriggers in front. Great product. Also, ...
Any body have experience with OPPO BDP-80?
Yes, the digital multi-channel can go over HDMI to a receiver capable of decoding it. The SACD can be sent as PCM or DSD. I think DSD sounds better. Your processor has to have the capability of decoding DSD via HDMI or will default to PCM. Either ...
PS Audio DLlll DAC with Monarchy Dip
I am using a MMF-7 for vinyl. I don't listen as much as I would like, but it is a great TT for the money and gives me what I want. Let us know if the DIP makes a difference.
Any body have experience with OPPO BDP-80?
I love the 80. I don't use any of the audio processing. The HDMI outputs to the AV processor for hirez and the digital out goes to the DAC. Beautiful picture and stable transport for little money. You're not paying for features you don't use. When...
PS Audio DLlll DAC with Monarchy Dip
I have not used a Monarchy DIP with my PSA DLIII. The DLIII alone is a great DAC and can improve your transport without the DIP. I don't know if the DIP would add or subtract from the DLIII but I recommend you try the DLIII with your S7000 for a w...
For a budget - True bi-wire or bi-wire?
Thanks for the detailed response. As I have learned, it is trial and error. That makes any review of amplifiers superfluous unless you have the same speakers as the reviewer!
For a budget - True bi-wire or bi-wire?
Edorr, please forgiving me for butting in but I have a question which relates to the issue of bi-amping that I would like to direct to Al and may be of importance to all. I notice that the damping factor of many high end SS amps such as Pass and K...
Mid-priced CDPs: Old vs. new technology
To get back to your questions, in my opinion, CD players have improved with the improvement in chips. Bear in mind that upsampling is not always done well. Some manufacturers prefer older chips. The tube output CDPs are in a separate class and I u...
Does delay really matter?
"Perfect" implies that all the speakers are equidistant from your ears. The delay is only important if they are not. The delay compensates for any difference in distance so that the sound reaches your ears at the precise moment from all the speake...
Van Alstine?
Yes,I did gather up the information from before. And it did speak to my original question. Unless there is something spectacular about the AVA amps, then I see no reason to change. I do like my Bel Canto M300s but was interested in simplifying and...
Van Alstine?
Jrtrent, thank you for your thoughtful response.
New room, 12'x17'
Classicjazz,Those are my thoughts now. Rather than mess up a good thing I should use methods to control ambient light. I will have to deal with a projector hanging from the ceiling and running wires. 2 channel is just too important. My wife has ag...
