Best FM antenna around $50 I use the Magnum Dynalab ST-1 vertical FM antenna and have for the past 4 years. It is mounted high on my roof and I live 50 miles away from any good FM station. It has great reception and is durable. If you could spring for $114 the Magnum is a g...
Sturdy sub - $50 in-ear headphones? I have gotten great mileage out of my ULtimate ears in ear phones. They finally started to break after 5 years of regular use. Mine are out of current stock but call headphones.com and talk to them. They are very helpful, not on commission and wil...
Peachtree Nova Pre vs. Modwright SWL 9.0 SE I see no answers yet. I also love the Mod and wouldn't get rid of it. Depending on how much you want to spend I have several headphone amps and that may be the best way. You can have your cake and eat it too.
Morrow IC I have all ICs from Signal Cable and am pleased. I just ordered speaker cable from Morrow and if I am pleased might try the ICs as well. For well made inexpensive ICs, esp long runs, i have used Blue Jean Cables.
Audio Arts speaker cable vs Morrow audio cable Interesting that you post this at this time. I just ordered 2 pair of SP1s to shotgun from Class D Wyred SX-500 monoblocks to VSA VR-4JRs. Total cost $200. I will let you know how they turn out. They will replace Speltz anti-cables. I am of the ca...
older dedicated midfi cd player....2nd system I think one of the most forgiving, musical and reliable CDP is the Ah Tjoeb 4000. True tube output. Great sound. I have had mine in a second system for years now and still like it. Another is the Jolida 100. Great reliable deck with a smooth and m...
Bad CDP but good transport? The unit I had was a Tascam CD player/recorder, midlevel, about $400. Built like a tank. I ran it through a variety of DACS and it sounded good. Tascam is known in the industry for reliable machines.
Bad CDP but good transport? Some professional CDP/Recorders are rock solid transports but so-so players because the DACs are inexpensive. The money goes into the transport mechanism. I have owned them but found my regular CDP was as good a transport so I sent it back.
mainstream sleeper audio products.... I've had great success with my REL sub. Hook it up to the speaker outputs on the amp and dial it in until it just "disappears". There are many monitors depending on taste and budget. Include solid stands if they are monitors. If integrating a surr...
Alpha-Core Goertz speaker cables Thanks to all. Al, I was hoping you would reply, so thanks to you as well. I understand better now and think it is an interesting approach but it may be "an answer in search of a question".
Mini-Toslink or Standard Toslink with Adapter I would try the adapter first, esp. if it has a return policy, providing you have a well made glass cable. If you get drop outs or distorted sound, go with a new one.
Happy Record Store Day In my town, St. Louis, The Record Exchange is open every day and every day the LPs cost from $5-$8 depending on the quality. I feel lucky every time I shop there. I manage to score 4 out of 6 perfect records and the other 2 are ok. I don't return ...
CD player to compete with my vinyl rig? My Jolida was a wonderful player, but early in my quest. It was pleasant, musical, forgiving and easy to listen to. I have gone through the phases of wanting articulation/precision to musical/romantic. It lies more to the romantic side. These days...
Focus on 24/192 Misguided?..... What a great thread! Civil discussion. Ruffled feathers, for sure. But, civil and respectful. Keep going guys! I am still on the fence about hi-rez and the OP really brought up a great article and it sparked a great discussion. It will ultimately ...
I'm looking for a nice set of cans. I also recommend headroom dot com for good evaluations of all kinds of headphones and they are friendly and easy to talk to on the phone. I have bought many from them and have always been pleased. 30 day return policy. You will have to decided on ... |
