PS Audio Digital Link III - USB Input Worthless? I loved my DLIII even better when I added a HiFace USB>Coax converter. Inexpensive and the new one is asynchronous and sounds great.
Do I need to upgrade my receiver? Prm0440- I recommend you print out Internetmin's post and keep it handy. Any time you think you should change your system or feel restless with it, pay attention to the basics-the room. Search the posts for different ways to position your speakers...
Speaker cables comparison chart:: Much Needed As Elizabeth says..... This is the quest of Don Quixote. There is no "bible" of speaker wire. There can never be. You will never find the perfect cable because you will always wish for something "better" and others experience will not translate in...
Suggestions for reasonably priced speakers for MBP First, thank you for your service. Second, Audioengine or one of the musician's monitors such as M-Audio B series. Take care out there.
EVS modded Minimax DAC...original I see no responses. I am curious, since I own the original unmodified version, if the newest DAC would give you what you are looking for?

improving bass on large floorstanders.... Like KR4 says, its the room. Start over with speaker placement. My favorite for proper bass response is the Sumiko master set method. Choose whichever works for you. I never found formulas of any kind to work for me. Good luck.
rear firing tweeters.... I have Von Schweikert VR4JRs. I have a small room which is 17 feet wide at the front and 24 feet deep with my sitting position half-way back. Ceilings are 9 feet. The walls are treated with deep pile quilts behind and to the side of the speakers w...
Best speakers to "abuse" for around $2k ? Used Dynaudio 70s (like I have), 80s, 72s or 82s. Great speakers for loud music. They won't tire you out, the midrange is beautiful and the bass is deep. I am not selling any speakers and I have no relationship with the seller but I just noticed t...
"ANTI-CABLE" SPEAKER CABLE vs Audio Arts SC5? I recently moved from the anti-cables to Morrow SP-1, two pairs to bi-wire my VR4JRs. I also tried the Kimber Kable 8PR in bulk and bare wire terminations. Funny thing is that the 8PR required no break-in of any kind. They were good at the moment ...
Sub? Can't Decide REL. perfect for me. See my system for details and other pieces.
Some old cables rescued me from computer audio. I just bought 2 pair of the same speaker cables, one for the bass module and one for the tweeter. I then decided to try Kimber Kable 8 PR wires, bare wire from my monos to the speakers. I ended up staying with the Kimber 8 PR for the bass and keep...
B&W 804s too bright You might try changing the toe in out and taming the ceiling and side wall reflections as well as speaker distance. The emotiva an be bright. I say treat the room first.
Are two smaller subs better than one larger? Most likely yes. If you read this white paper from Harmon on the number and placement of subs for optimal listening, you would conclude that at least two subs properly positioned will give you a smoother response in your room than one. If you are ...
below 100hz, do speaker cables matter? I think it does. Especially if the woofer is inefficient. Heavier gauge speaker cable has less resistance. Longer runs require heavier gauge to minimize resistance. I recently tried Kimber Kable 8 PR for the bass modules of my VR-4JRs and the bass... |
