Are future improvements in Amp/PreAmps slowing to a crawl?
To continue:As long as we seek, this will continue, without abatement.Any form of of screeching, hating, throwing insults or rocks about will change nothing. This sort of written communication is about reflection, not transference. As long as the g...

If you find outstanding (better than anything else on the market or ever mass produced) measured performance to be a meaningless achievement then how do you propose to measure what you find important? I would put it to you and everyone here that ...
$100,000 line stage
Do you really think the reviewer bought the review unit at 50% off retail? Mark-ups on some of these uber priced gear can be unbelievable. When I was importing Kondo gear (Audio Note Japan) and selling Ongaku amps they had a retail of $89,000....
Teo Game-Changer IC's - get on the bus!
you're gonna regret it..... :p
Why don't amplifier Companies use high end fuses?
Under transient loading and a traditional power supply or rectifiers, caps and transformers..the fuse is definitely in the signal path. And it carries import due to the fact that the ear/brain derives 100% of what it hears, via 10% of the signal --...
Why don't amplifier Companies use high end fuses?
If it is just a piece of wire, then replace the emitter resistors in an amplifier with pigtail fuses, or wire lead micro fuses. ( I used sockets, so I could change the values and types)Go ahead, try it.Sounds like crap on a level that is near impo...
Systemdek 11X Issues
You'll have to do a bit of research. As the sytemdeks age, they are running into motor and motor mounting problems. Common enough that you should be able to find some data on dealing with those exact problems.

One can go entirely active with speakers, yes, but the speakers will still sound notably better if the drivers have passive zobel networks.

The acoustics and improvement of bass in consumer listening rooms is very well understood,...... On my life, I fundamentally disagree. (in a casual friendly way... but if pushed...) I’m talking about how the ’fix’ of the rooms is, in my direct ex...

'The end of science' bit in the title is mostly journalistic license in designing a hook for the article.Nelson speaks on some of this via: The other fundamental thing—number 2—is that I am centrally aware that all this is just entertainment, min...

Hey Ralph, the liquid metal cable is all about re-writing the ground that electricity walks on. As fundamental a mental shift as can ever be. From the molecular and quantum levels, on up. Hardcore and real. However, it’s a difficult thing for most p...
Tech That Flopped!
"Objectivity is a fail" and "subjectivity will rule the roost in all facets" seem to be very objective statements. The assertion that ’everything is so complex that all interactions are too intricate for us to even begin to understand’ only opens...

The Map is Not The Territory.A wanky and side shifted statement might be that Class D is about solving a problem that no one in the world of high end audio was interested in asking.Further... in the world of stately posturing (why back down when y...

In smaller European rooms, the room lift will help out with the bottom end.In bigger north American rooms, not as much, as averages go. Most speakers need to be ’interviewed’ with room size and position as part of the analysis. Both a useless obvi...
