How's the Audio Research Ref Phono 2 Working Out?
I've had the Ref 2 phono for 9 months and I am very happy. Quiet, big wide deep sound stage.I had moved from an Ayre P5x to an Einstein balanced Turntables Choice to the Ref 2 phono. All are fully balanced. The Arye is a great value but the Einste...
vandersteen sings with naim amps
The lowest impedence setting on my xovers is 10K ohms. What is the input impedence of the NAIM amps you want to use? If it is a lot lower, I would call Richard and see if he can make filters with that lowest setting at what ever you need. Its poss...

Vandy quatro vs Vandy 5’s
Like the Quattros are way easier to service or they are way more reliable vs the 5s...what is the point? The Quattro is plenty big and heavy and since several drivers and the bass amps are variations of same production...you are down the same road ...
Vandy quatro vs Vandy 5’s
As some have pointed out exactly what Quattro and I assume the reqular 5 and not the 5A.But I think the following can be said: The built in "subs" of the 5s are better than the Quattros. I think the 5s 7 inch bass/low mid driver is better than wha...
How to accomodate a balanced only phono stage ?
you don't have to do anything the turntable, it is naturally a balanced signal. Its a matter of physical connection. Some balanced phono preamps have xlr inputs instead of rca connectors which require either an adapter or a custom made interconnec...
Why three motors?
Thanks Dgad, interesting post. Are the motors with the BN the same as the AC 1/3? I thought from pics they looked shorter/smaller and if so might have less torque. What I am wondering is; if the AC 1 motor is stout enough the addition of more does...

What power cord with your ARC AR VS 115?
I am running ARC stock cords as well. I would be willing to try some of the things out there but I have chosen to spend dollars in other places.Terry
Project Align it CartridgeAlignment Gauge is good?
I just received a Mint LP for a second arm and I will get a third Mint LP if I ever get yet another arm.It is such a good tool. If you have a lot invested in a analog rig, get one.Terry
Tri-Planar grounding question...
Dogpile, the ground shield on Tri RCAs just ends before the it makes any physical contact with the RCA plug. It goes up as close as possible so the heatshrink has something subtstantial to shrink to so it makes a robust physical end that can be pl...

tuner better than turntable ? thread.
Their seems to no concept of band width in the starting OP. FM only has so much room to put the audio signal through. Its been a while but I remember that it is done mainly in two ways. First is the frequency cut off of 15K HZ which depending on h...
preamp for ARC 210 monos
I have used the Ref 3 and now the Ref 5 which are the obvious choices for the voice matching as already said.Beyond that I used an Ayre phono pre amp wihch I thought mated very well with various ARC pre/amp combos. I bet their preamps would work w...
Kudos to Audio Research
This is a positive shout out, think of it this way. The cost of the fix may have been equal to the profit they make on some of their stuff.I know there are plenty of bad stories out there but overall I have had good luck with high end audio equipm...
