Why are modern arms so ugly?
I had a FR-66 and thought it was okay. I guess I'm just taken by the close tolerance machining of the Ikeda and, of course, the sound.

Ddraudt, I have been around for a long time also, since the late '50s. I too am at a loss for words even after HP wrote a new vocabulary. I have already had marvelous improvements recently not only with the High Fidelity cables as to leave me real...

Ddraudt, I wish I had been in College Station and been able to join the listening rather than waiting a week to hear one.
Why do some audiophiles beat up McIntosh?
Pops, I don't want to get involved in another music versus equipment discussion. I hear what I hear, and you do also.

Charles1dad, this will be very interesting. When I had the Troy in, I noticed that the sound was quieter, more involving, had a more defined soundstage, was sweeter, and more dynamic. Most of these characteristics apply to what I hear from the HF ...

Stillpoints and reference-level speakers
Psag, I very much like the Phy-hp 30s, but as much as I like and respect Andrew and as often as I have listened to them at shows, I do not like the TADs other than the smallest one. Of course, I have never tried the Ultra Fives under and the TADs,...
Stillpoints and reference-level speakers
Psag, the StillPoints technology is to convert the vast majority of vertical motion into horizontal motion that is absorbed by the stainless steel and converted into heat. It is not specific to frequency. In my experience one should avoid putting ...

Yo2tup, try Ultra Minis under the light components. I have a 7 pound line stage on four SP Ultra Fives. I did find that adding weight improved the sound. I anxiously await more Minis to replace the Fives, so that I can use the Fives on top my comp...
