Are music servers the future?
Detlof, thanks. I hasten to say that my server is from Empirical Audio Legacy which is distinct from Empirical Audio, although they used to be together. I hate when people say bits are bits. How many times have I heard amazing differences when oth...

Agear, I tried the Apprentices without the cups against the bottom of components and with them. Having them was somewhat better. I do also use them on my hardwood floors. I did try IsoClean feet instead of the Star Sound cups and heard no differen...

Ddraudt, where are you going to first put it? In my first experience I put it on the HFC WGPC. It was shocking after an hour and a half. You will hear less noise and more detail, like the decay of notes. On individual components it will make them ...
Are music servers the future?
Mapman, true but some do hear the same. Basically, I go to shows with at least two who do.
Are music servers the future?
Mapman, simple this is all untrue. Soon mastertapes will all be quad DSD. As to the hardware causing the impossibility of comparing PCM v. DSD, we will see. The Sabre chip actually has two dacs, one for PCM and one for DSD.But sound is the only tr...

Calvinj, I have no tube amps. I would expect, however, that they too would be improved. I do have an Exemplar XP-2 tube preamp as well as one of their tube output Oppo 105s and both were greatly improved with every step from the original CT-1s to ...

Audiolabyrinth, only the audio points differ from between the models. All will support up to 800 pounds, the Audio Points go down as well as up. You don't need to put anything under the Platform. No the benefits are most noticable on electronic in...

I think they recommend the SP-SA 103 with their 1.5 inched Audio Points.

Audiolabyrinth, so what does someone who has never bothered to hear the HFCables contribute to a thread obviously focused on these cables. I must admit that I largely ignore your posts as not relevant or of interest. At this time only the Crystal ...

Audioengr, Last night I compared several cds on my server as well as several HDTracks, and three DSD downloads from SACDs. I each was played in PCM for whatever sampling rate they were in to double DSD. In the case of the SACD it was there cd coun...

Audiolabyrinth, verbal descriptions are useless. Get a listen to the HFCs.
Cheap tweaks...What would YOU reccomend?
Ucrazykid, anything sounds better than Isopods. About 30 years ago it was the leading edge of audio to cut racketballs around the seam, put them under a marble shelf and on furniture cups for the feet.

Audiolabyrinth, at least with the HFCables, you hear a very sharp leading edge and the decay of notes in the recording studio or hall. Lead singers do sound to be right in the plane of your speakers. They sound present.

Mitch4t, I guess it is pixels versus sample rate, which is kind of apple v. oranges. But I don't know either.

Mitch4t, are you sure that streaming hi-def video is a difficult as hi-def audio? I certainly have never heard at CES any streaming demonstrations that were close to high definition audio, such as PCM 192/24 or native DSD.
