do burnt CD copys sound as good as originals?
Grateful, while I greatly disagree with your results in burning copies, even of bigger labels, I agree that once there are good dacs to convert music put on hard drives, it will negate what benefits there are in burning copies. I sent Vince Sander...
A few impressions from the CES/THE Shows
I did spend a good deal of time listening to the TAD 2s and Andrew Jones' great presentation. I still don't like the speakers and wish TAD would have stuck with high efficiency speakers where the crappy powerful Pass amps would not be needed. In m...
do burnt CD copys sound as good as originals?
Slothman, I have several times gone to a second generation copy and heard no benefits. Frankly, I have lost interest in going further. I don't understand why burners sound different, but I think cdrs vary as does cleaning them and the originals.

Drubin, I do so with some trepidation. But hey, this never stopped me before.George Lewis is largely responsible for what I presently do although I use only the burner that he apparently drop-shipped and until recently his black cdrs. The lengthy ...
Nationalism in Audio Products?
Forsell is from Sweden, not that it matters.I have had stereo equipment from: USA, Canada, Mexico, England, Netherlands, France, Germany, Italy, Sweden, Switzerland, Belgium, Yugoslavia (when it existed), Russia, Japan, South Korea, Australia, New...
Can you still get into CES on the last day?
I suspect that security will be tighter at the Venetian than in the past at the Alexis Park.
Do ground lifters alter sound?
Your language caused me pause. You are talking about cheater plugs, I now suspect. There really are no quality cheaters, although I have heard that Siltech used to make some. Many will strongly admonish you to not lift the ground for safety reason...
Nationalism in Audio Products?
There is better and worse equipment from Switzerland as from everywhere else. It is likely to be more expensive from Switzerland.

I don't play any redbook that has not been carefully duplicated and not on a computer. I have found you have to consider the quality of your cdrs and your burner. And you have to clean both the original and the cdr. This is all a pain in the ass, ...
anyone with experience of the "CD lathe"
Amfibius, I think cd rot is an urban myth despite the webpage you list. I have several cds bought in England before they were available in the US. No evidence of any problem in any cd of the 4000 I have. There are also statements on some cds sayin...
What is the voltage at your receptacle?
124 volts +/- ,2 volts.
anyone with experience of the "CD lathe"
I have had one for three years. I used it on all cds and sacds that I could find the time to cut. I found that blackening the outer edge also helped. Presently I copy all redbook onto black cdrs using the RealityCheck burner and have found that bl...
Top ten tube amps
The $350k Wavac 833 with outboard power supplies is the best I have ever heard. The Reimyo PAT777 is the second best, but not all that close. I have owned twelve different tube amps both SETs and PPs and still say that the 45 based ones in SET at ...
Home made cable lifters.
Unsound, great pun.
JADE AUDIO Cables
Jafox, I think JD's focus was entirely on the sound of the cables rather than skin effects, low impedance, the thickness of the cables or their weight, using teflon insulation, etc. This is a hard path to follow as we know from all the many effort...
