Senior Audiophiles - Audiophile since the 60-70's?
Ramy, I too miss the quality dealers who expected their business would yield them a living without pressing like a used car salesman. They also could talk about what they had seen at CES and the wonders to come. JG Holt's Stereophile also brought ...
Acoustic Zen Adagio, How Good Are They?
I am sorry that Buda lack the conceptual powers to understand what I said above and like many of my freshmen students has received a poor grounding in English.
Acoustic Zen Adagio, How Good Are They?
Unless you have a stormy relationship with your Adagios, the word you want is whether not weather.Except for the fact that I agree with you on the Adagios, I would be tempted to suggest you are inconsistent in your views. You dismiss the possibili...
DIRECTION OF SIGNAL FLOW VIA INTERCONNECTS
Thankfully, this thread has been free of the simplistic idea that the audio signal is alternating current. I will say from personal experience that on occasion I have found that having the shield attached to the preamp end or the source end sounds...
How to tell if lp is recorded with phase reversed?
Islandmandan, I envy you the capability to invert easily, but I do not know how thee PS Audio does this. If it adds another stage, this sorely disadvantages the inverted sound. As to how you can know, it is my experience that on many records you ca...
How many have heard the Beveridge Electrostatics?
Sanibelsteve, at those prices the speakers would have to be quite convincing.
The best speaker you ever heard?
Tvad, you may be right. Long ago when John was still just redoing existing Hartsfields, I gave serious attention to them. I guess I just like Altecs more and don't like the lens concept. A friend has always insisted that the Paragons if raised 18"...
The best speaker you ever heard?
Semi, have you heard the Pioneer SX speakers? They use the midrange and tweeter drivers from TAD, owned by Pioneer. I heard them at last year's RMAF and have thought seriously about buying a pair. They cost $9500 per pair!
How many have heard the Beveridge Electrostatics?
I came very close to buying them in the 70s, when I was experimenting with the Infinity Servostatics, the Dayton Wrights, KLH 9s, and double Quads. The Beveridges imaged better than all of these but they were even less dynamic. This all came to an...
What is new with the Memory Player?
Scaena1, thanks for cutting to the chase. I will be there for your demonstration.
What 6SN7 for BAT VK-60
And very expensive. Furthermore you can also do solidstate equipment. I wonder if anyone has ever transistor rolled.
Exemplar Denon 3910
I have had the entire sequence of Exemplar players, 2900, 3910, 5910, and soon the Shanling sacd player. There was a further mod of the 3910 with the post-dac filter parts largely replaced. I did not have this unit but heard it. That would be what...
What 6SN7 for BAT VK-60
You are ignoring the fact also that tubes from different manufacturers of this tube sound different as do they over the period during which they were manufactured. For my old Supertek Syrah, at one time I had 12 different tubes with some clearlly ...
What is new with the Memory Player?
It would be great for those who could attend. How about the RMAF?
What is new with the Memory Player?
Vince, since both players will be at the Rocky Mountain Audio Fest, how about doing it there in a big enough room where many of us could hear?
