Cartridge alignment channel balance measurements?
James1969, as Shure once had a record and meter that allowed you to adjust the channel outputs by changing Azimuth, so Denon once had a meter that allowed you to minimize crosstalk. I think I remember that you could also get a Denon product that r...
Noisier Outer Edges?
Toufu, I have noticed this on a few of my records. I use a Loricraft string record cleaner and often think it does a poorer job of vacuuming on the extreme outer grooves. I have not, however, been able to doubly clean these outer grooves and remov...
Does coloring the edges of CD's help the sonics?
Rodman, I merely started my posting by saying that I no longer hear a benefit from the use of the AudioDesk, so I agree with you.
WAV vs. AIFF
I was quite impressed with the Exemplar cdserver at both the RMAF and CES. It uses Windows XP so I had no choice but to use WAV with maximum avoidance of error correction. It goes to my Exemplar dac by way of a Lynx AES/EBU output. Thus far this i...
Does coloring the edges of CD's help the sonics?
So it does not true the disc.
Does coloring the edges of CD's help the sonics?
Geoffkait, I doubt if the reviewers noticed. This nonsense about truing the disc is present in all of them without any suggestion that they altered the instructions.I suspect that less scattering of the laser's light on a more transparent surface ...
Does coloring the edges of CD's help the sonics?
Geoffkait, I just check on the AudioDesk site. You are NOT supposed to trim through the entire thickness. They provide a disc that allows you to set it at the proper thickness. See: http://www.audiodesksysteme.de/downloads/sound_improver_operating...
Does coloring the edges of CD's help the sonics?
Geoffkait, again I found it effective until the new cleaners came out, I think I followed their instruction, and I never experienced any shattering. In fact I think there would be much more potential for shattering with the deeper cut you suggest.
Does coloring the edges of CD's help the sonics?
Geoffkait, it has been a long time since I got the AudioDesk, but I think I aligned the blade as recommended, which was half way through.
Transistor Preamp that sounds like a Tube Preamp?
Saxo, I thought I did.
Does coloring the edges of CD's help the sonics?
Shadorne, the new cleaners also make scratched discs more readable or at least less likely to cause the cd player to err or pop. I think the laser's rays merely reflect on the sensor with little diffraction elsewhere.I still remember the demonstra...
Transistor Preamp that sounds like a Tube Preamp?
Ass, I am sure no one, myself included, who knows what the hell you are talking about. Inarticulateness in communicating is a measure of education.
Does coloring the edges of CD's help the sonics?
Shadorne, everyone thinks the AudioDesk trues the radius of the cd. It doesn't. It puts a angle on the edge that extends only half-way through its thickness. It thus is really just directing the light diffused through the plastic downward. You cou...
Re-producing the Analog sound
Digital has come a long way in my system thanks to Exemplar's Shanling scd-3000 mod and their new cd server and dac as well as by putting the dac or cd player on a Halcyonics, but digital is different from vinyl sound. Digital is less diffuse givi...
Does coloring the edges of CD's help the sonics?
I once heard a demonstration of a cd player with red leds inside the drawer. When they were turned on, it stopped playing. Red light other than the laser's within the drawer can harm the sound. I tried green and black edge treatments which at the ...
