DIY kits...
I wouldn't want to be the first kid on the block to plunk down money for one of these even though the guy's feedback is 100% positive with lots of buyers. (But if other 'gonners have I'd be interested to know what they've found. I missed seeing th...
Good Speakers for Low Watts
I'm sure you'll get lots of suggestions. The tough part of your question is the assumption I'm making that, as a bass player, you want to be able to hear other basses pretty well. Hopefully others who make specific recommendations will have kept t...
Best Acoustic Guitar Players Of All Time?
Add Jim Hall. Double add Joe Pass.
If you had to pay full retail, would you...???
There was a time when there was no Audiogon! It's hard for me to imagine that now--it has changed my buying habits so much. If I could only pay retail, boy, it would be hard. I'd probably stay in the hobby and go totally for "internet" products--s...

Speaker disappearing act?
It's like magic (not magico) and that's part of the appeal.
Which $7000 speakers to ask Santa?
Santa doesn't like to deliver big packages (his back you know) so see if you can find (or he can find for you) a used pair of the $22K Magico minimonitors that TAS thinks so highly of.

Help My wife bought me a sub
Your wife got 'close' picking a brand you were considering but a passive version. IMO the fact that she bought you stereo equipment for xmas far outweighs all the considerations you mention in your email and that the first respondant anyway respon...
Anyone else experiencing the rude highend retailer
It's funny, in the Magnolia section of BB I am ignored. In the whole rest of the store, xmas or not xmas, someone always comes up and politely asks if I need help finding anything.
Dynaco?
The reviews of the PAT4 in Stereophile years ago put it in the same league as the PAS-3. I got a PAT4 on ebay for $75 that works great. They are old, though and I think it takes a little bit of luck to get a decent one (either 3 or 4) sight unseen...
Johnny Hartman with John Coltrane
I'm in the distinct minority on this one, but I believe that almost any of the Coltrane records from this time or later are 'better'--more musically rewarding--than the Hartman album. Meditations, for example.
beautiful piano recordings: solo or small ensemble
The new Stereophile recording of Silverman playing Beethoven's Diabelli Variations. State of the art recording, great playing, the greatest music.
How far have things come regardingSS electronics?
If it's a new NAD you are talking about, my guess would be that it would be better by more than a little. But I haven't heard it (obviously), so I don't know. When I think of "vintage" I think of older tube equipment. I don't know that SS "vintage...
Mainstream reviews-why so few?
And, sadly, wherever it's reviewed, the odds are that it will be a rave and it is nearly dead-certain that it will be at least positive--regardless of product. So, maybe everything sounds really good and is of good value...in which case put on a b...
