Shunyata Vs. Nordost power cables ?
Hi everyone! I just did some research regarding the copper slug for the original hydra. I talked to Shunyata Research who said that they used to supply a copper slug with the original hydra on some units and it does indeed sound better than the 15...
Shunyata Vs. Nordost power cables ?
Simon74, Thanks! Sure, I'd be interested in a copper slug. Also, I took your advice and just got the Hydra off my wood floor. It's now sitting on a sand filled Bright Star Audio Big Rock isolation base that I wasn't using. Best wishes. Stan
Shunyata Vs. Nordost power cables ?
Hi Guys, I just bought an original Hydra recently. Does anyone know where I could find a copper slug to replace my 15 amp slow blo fuse? Also, any suggestions for a good all-round powercord to go from wall to Hydra? Thanks! Stan
Wadia direct into amp, Sound a bit too lean??
Hi Jerry, At this point, I prefer the Wadia with a preamp; however, I'm still breaking in my amp, which was a demo. The Rowland 302 had 100 playing hours on it, but then sat at the dealers for 6 months without being used. I've put about 60-70 hour...
Wadia direct into amp, Sound a bit too lean??
Ch5588, I'm curious where you heard that an output voltage of 1.0 V is best for balanced interconnects? I too have a Wadia 861se and am running balanced into a Bat vk5i preamp and then balanced into a Rowland 302. I contacted Wadia today because o...
Battubes....the begining
I'm using four matched sets of 1963 and 1964 7308 Amperex PQ (white label/with shield) small signal tubes and one set of 1957 Tungsol 5881's. It's by far the best sound that I've gotten out of my Bat vk5i preamp--great detail, dynamics, and bass w...
Speakers for BAT system?
My current system consists of a Meridian 508.24 cd player, Bat vk5i preamp with nos amperex tubes, Conrad Johnson MF2500a amp (250wpc), and Aerial 7b speakers. Kind of similiar to you system. My system is excellent with acoustic material and bette...
Best CD player for under $6000 used?
Hi Guys, I'm in the process of buying a Wadia 861se. I hope to see a lot of improvement over my Meridian 508.24. I think that the Wadia gives me more options, including sending it out to Great Northern Sound at some time. I looked into some of the...
Need quality flexible power cord for CD player....
I'd recommend the Shunyata Black Mamba-original version. I've seen it on AG for about $350 used (was $750 new). It works well for noise reduction and helps lower the noise floor. It especially works well with digital. Stan
Best CD player for under $6000 used?
Thanks for all your input guys! Sincerely, Stan
Best CD player for under $6000 used?
I think that I'll probably end up with the Wadia 861se, but I was wondering if I missed any potential players-hence the thread. Mejames- Do you feel that the Great Northern Sound mod was worth the investment? Thanks Guys! Stan
The most detailed speaker cable??
Tvad, Congratulations on your recent find. I'd suggest the Great Northern Sound mod with the optional Koetsu cartridge. Best of Luck! Stan
The most detailed speaker cable??
Rsbeck, Your point two is incorrect. My listening partner can hear the difference between flat and .088 db down @ 20Khz. Click on my system and scroll down to the last tweak for a look at my listening partner. He also works cheap!
The most detailed speaker cable??
Tvad, a most excellent choice! It's great for reverb. Awesome.
The most detailed speaker cable??
Tvad, what kind of wire are you using on that Close-N-Play?
