I hate to say it, but now I think maybe I like my amp in ultralinear mode versus triode
" For most of the twenty three years that I have owned this amp I have always felt that I preferred triode" Your hearing  isn't as sharp as it was. Now UL is needed to "push" instrument passages closer to please the ear. That's my personal diagno...

artemus_5 Yeah, it's the RL thing that makes it special. Kinda like a real Mickey Mantle signed baseball. They are out there, in various degrees of ruin from being stacked and played on the BSR all in one rigs from the 70's! Led Zeppelin – Led ...
Nordost Heimdall 2 or Tyr 2 digital cables
Long term Nordost user. Heimdall is where you start if you're gonna bother with cable insanity. 4akg_ca laid out a good Nordost overview. Nordost is a polarizing brand due to price and the subjective claims of how it might make your system sound...
Rega NAIA phonopreamp
Flagship/statement model deserves the same in phonostage- Aura. Only thing to consider is tube presentation, which some prefer.  I'd put a Minus K underneath and be done.

If you're a LED Head with a $200K+ rig, why not? Of course, that's  just table/cart/phonostage! I have the  RL Monarch press Thought $20 bucks was a ridiculous price about 15 years ago? This is interesting  https://www.discogs.com/release/196...
Thoughts: Mofi Sourcepoint 888 vs Fyne Audio 501sp?
"you’d think a 5k speaker basically knocks it out of the park!" That's a matter of personal preference and how wide can your wallet stretch. The Fyne and Mofi are both MIC/price point boxes. BOTH will sound great, each with strengths/weaknesses. ...
Mofi Sourcepoint 888?
"Seems to me like you are clipping/ doing something terrible to it with your "mac tubes"/ front end electronics ( and blaming it on the speaker instead.)" Assuming everything was the same, lpweissman heard the Tekton Moab as "better". Something i...
Mofi Sourcepoint 888?
"The vocals and midrange sound truncated and at times break up even at moderate volumes." Interesting. I would like to read more user observations. Every speaker is subject to the ol YMMV. "The best speakers that I haveowned in this price range ...
Phono stage for second system
"open to tubes as long as the unit is one box solution." Good: https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/650160664-manley-chinook-phono-pre-amp/ "Better" https://www.usaudiomart.com/details/650160529-primaluna-evo-100-tube-phono-preamp/ Both have b...

Is Rega the easiest turntable to set up....
The OP can probably see there are many ways to approach his desired outcome. "I’ve pretty much eliminated the P6 but am also looking at a MOFI" Even the highest level Rega, it still is a polarizing brand. Having demoed the Mofi Ultradeck in my ...
Is Rega the easiest turntable to set up....
I'd put a max offer on this https://www.audiogon.com/listings/lis98a9c-rega-p3-current-unit-audiophile-turntable-turntables P8 is the next "best" choice.
From Sonus Faber Extrema to...
"They sound lovely paired with my Conrad Johnson MV125 or with the couple of Accuphase P360 amps I own, bridged to monos (actually I think the CJ is a far better match). " Based on your own comments, you're just  showing signs of "audiophool upgr...
Pop album that has stood the test of time
I despised 80's/90's pop/"modern rock"at the time, but Sinead's debut "The Lion and the Cobra" is now equally listenabale. Her LP's are now found in the 3 for $10 bins in great condition. Add any of the 4 Smith's. Stray Cats debut.
