Adding a sub. - can i start with one? daveinpa- as illustrated by hilde45's response to my comment on JUST ONE sub. Yes,no and....the poster who is compelled to go beyond with their "absoluteness." Sigh
Adding a sub. - can i start with one? daveinpa- As you can see, asking a seemingly simple question will never get a simple response back. Yes, no and maybe but... A single sub properly setup will improve overall SQ-but it's subjective like EVERYTHING in audiophooland. 1:52 into the...
Billie or Ella? Maria or Renata? Technique or feeling? Ella -straight ahead "Jazz"
Billie or Ella? Maria or Renata? Technique or feeling? skyscraper-If you just want to hear Ella in one of her best settings that's only with piano or simple Jazz ensemble. Check out here Decca and early Verve output for some of her finest. The songbook/orchestra settings is what most people remember...
You're overbudget on gear, one more thing... "I think one could locate their own "hot stamper" just by crate digging and doing your own comparison." bimmerman2- That's all it is-find multiple copies of the period release. Not so easy, if we're talking 50+ year old LP's. Most will be noisy/g...
You're overbudget on gear, one more thing... clearthink- considering the amount some put into their rig, $100+ for an LP shouldn't be a big deal. I guess seeing that amount as a lump sum for what the collection is, might be unsettling for some. I get uncomfortable at the $20+ level.
You're overbudget on gear, one more thing... "How about 4 for $600?" jeffseight-I can afford the 3/$10 bin at my neighborhood store. Every now and then excellent 1st press 60-70's LP's. If the seller's list is indeed 1st press albums and good condition, they do have value. At $100+ each, ...

Billie or Ella? Maria or Renata? Technique or feeling? Ella's best years are the Decca and early Verve. Particularly with minimal accompaniment. "vocal fireworks make for precious little emotion." Maybe you're referring to the later 60's and forward schmaltzy, overproduced "pop" Ella that many thin...
Have you ever solved a high end audio issue using non-audio technology? Or, visa versa? Duct tape has use somewhere, in audio equipment- I just haven't found it yet.
What do you consider the most when choosing a pair of speakers? Put the design and sound of your $25K speaker in a $5k package, then return. Other than the enclosure being machined out of aluminum, it appears to present itself as every other speaker-"premium" or pedestrian level.
Creem Magazine is Back! It appear’s to just be an archive website? Loved it in the 70’s along with Circus. Just another nostalgia distraction for us boomers. Looks like something Gen X and younger hipsters will enjoy. Creem was about R&R, which hasn’t been relevan...
The Future of Hifi is just being Discovered J-wall, I imagine very few- if any, readers see my use of the term audiophool as just poking fun at EVERYTHING/EVERYONE(including myself) who participates in this often ridiculous hobby. Other than setting gear up with safety in mind, it's a fr...
The Future of Hifi is just being Discovered J-wall, As you can see-WITHOUT even going to the archives, audio cryo is part of audiophoolery.
