We Can Make Classic Cars Outperform Today's "SuperCars": Why Not Vintage Audio?
If one has a Marantz model 7 preamp, 8B amp and 10B tuner, you do not even think about "modding" it. Same with Mac. The car comparison for audio-no bueno. Classic GM car 1/4 time slip vs Euro exotica. The Camaro against it will fail on a road co...
Does a turntable make a DRAMATIC difference?
Everyone's definition of "DRAMATIC" is going to be different.  A "heavily modified" Rega will be left in the dust against a P8/10. I wouldn't bother with non Rega carts, since they're optimized for its own arm. If you didn't purchase the cart ye...
REL Carbon Special in the house!
jl1ny- That's part of the REL philosophy-they put back what we are "not hearing." "The No. 32 & 31 are RELs new reference subwoofers." ricred1-Wow! I haven't visited the site in awhile. No.32=15"@$10K!!  Plebians need not apply.
Shakti Stone
"I grow most of the stash I smoke." czarivey, good for you, you're better off. I no longer partake, but am surrounded by people who do, and I'm fascinated by the whole scene. Never imagined back in 1980 it would be available like a dozen eggs at ...

"I've had all kinds of stones, but Birthday Cake strain gave me so far the BEST stone." czarivey- Are you aware that with all the cross breeding that's been going on since the 80's, PURE indica strains are rare and tough to get?  There was a lo...
REL Carbon Special in the house!
Nice looking sub. Maybe the 3rd step down-No.25/G1 now in the REL food chain. "Is there a substantial break in period with the CS? I really didn’t notice much of a change over time with the S/510" Probably answered your own question.  Asking th...
Anyone know where the Virtual Systems went?
You access a member’s profile page after getting the drop-down menu when you click on their name-from there you can see their virtual setup. I’ve never noticed if their system was an option in the drop down. If it was an option, it has been delete...
First record cleaner
I've used a Spin Clean over 10 years, because I always find excuses to not take the plunge. Someday, in this lifetime I'll get a proper machine. Spin Clean makes for a clean appearing LP more than anything. The Project unit gets good reviews, and...
Original Sonus faber cremona auditor again?
"I would consider getting rid of one pair of my Kappa9 speakers for the Stradaveris....but l would need a listen" Serblin was involved in the Stradivari project, so good chance your ears would agree.  From the 2005  Stereophile review: "Expensi...
Original Sonus faber cremona auditor again?
Congratulations. Im sure they're fine sounding speakers. I have a soft spot for the SF pre acquisition. If I had things my way, These would be in my room Stradivari Homage-they're floating around the $17-20K range. Just not in my comfort zone.
Record Clamp for Rega P5?
18 year old thread.  Let's hope the OP upgraded to a P10.
Vinyl record grading
50's Jazz labels in good condition?  Unfortunate, you're not a fan of the  golden era. Collectors want the complete package. Maybe some music/audio  fans will be more interested in SQ over superficial scuffs. Prepare to price on low end of Disc...

Does anyone on this Forum have any experience with Audio research ref 610t monoblocks
"How would you compare them say to a Prima Luna" Get real! It appears you’re new to tube amps? That level of ARC and a value MIC tube amp shouldn’t be in the same sentence, with exception of equal build quality. Both amps hooked up to same setu...
Audiophile Jargon Demonstrated
I use this phrase....yeah...it sounds good. audiophile jargon- words used to make "professional" reviewers appear legit and make enthusiasts come across as an actual musician to non audio, music fans. The  width definition is ridiculous. How on ...
