I'm putting to rest worrying about sibilance
Pressings will vary in quality. Before blaming the record, take that exact album an play it on a nicer table and you may not hear sibilance.I've done this, an was sadly reminded my mid fi setup simply isn't up to the task with some albums.VPI Clas...
AT OC9/II Re-release
There has been a III for many years.https://www.audio-technica.com/cms/cartridges/230bf7df33e9687d/index.htmlI used one, then jumped to the ART9. The OC9 is a great cart for the price. I heard the ART 9 as more refined overall and worth the price ...
Music lover or audiophile?
As a music fan, the trick is to get ones system to a minimal level to satisfy the ears. When to stop, is where the madness begins.Seeing and hearing some of the "best" can be a fun experience. It's the actual music however, which stirs emotion-eve...
the nordost blue heaven power cord
I highly recommend a power cord.Very difficult to get past the very low noise floor without one.The  Blue Heaven power cord is perfect to get an idea if the Nordost line works for your ears. It has the same build technology as the upper end line.T...
looking for ideas on must have classical music
Build the foundation.Haydn,Mozart and Bach.
Music room dimensions
It's your ears, let them tell you what they like.More stuff to considerhttp://cardas.com/room_setup_main.phpI use the speaker calculator, and hear good results. YMMV. Others may try it and think...meh
Home Demo Faceoff: Nordost / Audioquest / Transparent
"But now I’d be shocked if the Valhalla 2’s can be topped."nyev-since the cable thing is completely suvjective,I’ve found things after the Heimdall become increasingly subtle.Definitely a YMMV,gear dependent call. I had the opportunity to even use...
Tube Amps Watts vs SS amp
Oh no...One of those SS watts threads!Someone explain to the OP how he isn't even listening 20 watts of power.
Power amps into surge protector/Conditioner or DIRECT to wall? Final verdict?
Buy something, try it. If you don't  like it,send it back. You have  been doing what you've been doing for years, so why worry.Let your ears decide. I plug everything into a PS Audio Power Plant and it sounds fine.
Your favourite Rush albums?
Picked up a major score while bin diving.1974 debut. Not the elusive Moon first press, but the 1st run Mercury, which is just as tough to find. My copy that it is replacing was a mess. This one is in fine condition.https://www.discogs.com/Rush-Rus...
Aidas Cartridge
"23,000 year old Siberian Wooly Mammoth tusk"https://virahighend.com/aidas-phono-cartridgesFancy BS shells for their carts and not surprising  "amazing" reviews. They look nice.
Simple question about Rega planar 3
calporter-If you want to try a MC cart,I would consider the Rega Ania cart. What better, than the cart designed to go with the table. No need for alignment fuss or VTA concerns. Price also, is more inline with the P3.
Can anyone hear the difference when you add REL subwoofers when playing two channel
"I also question why REL manufactures their subs with such low wattage? For example, their S3 delivers only 400 watts and their T/9i's deliver just 300 watts. When comparing them to subwoofers like JL, which deliver 750 watts to $1500 watts, ma...
Will McIntosh C2600 tube preamp solve my problem?
The suggestion to get a tube integrated is a smart move, since you like your speakers, but are tube presentation curious.Based on the price of the Mac, you will have great choices. I wouldn't get hung up on where it's manufactured as well. U.S.A. ...
Simple question about Rega planar 3
Vinylengine.com has all the Rega info. The dealer you purchased the cart from should at least have knowledge of advising on such an inappropriate match. IMO, a little much for the P3. A P8 and minimum $2k phonostage for that level of cart is what’...
