Store auditioning and then buying on-line from others. How do you feel about it ?
Prof- with respect to your hypothetical about whether you are ethically bound to purchase a product from the B&M store when you liked the product but not the audition experience, I'd say no.  When you buy B&M, a portion of the "value" you ...

Item X available at a traditional store for $2,000, new with warranty, and available on line, new with warranty, for exactly 1/2 the price. As a consumer, are you obligated to sustain the brick and mortar retailer above your own pecuniary inte...

Loathsome to go audition something already seen online, have the LAS give you its best advice, spend all day trying stuff out or even allowing a home audition, and buy somewhere else to save a few bucks, especially without giving the LAS a sho...
Whats in your second system?
Looks like a lot of people have some very nice office systems. Gotta work to feed my habit ;-)
Whats in your second system?
2nd system        Streaming from my desktop computer (nothing special)       HRT Musicstreamer 2+ DAC       NHT PVC passive attenuator        NHT Pro M00 active monitors (near field)       NHT S00 subAll bought purposely to assemble this for my de...
hooked up TT and preamp to receiver sound fades out after 4-5 seconds
Seems like you have an issue with the set-up of the AVR.  I would do a hard re-set and work from scratch.
Why is it so easy to tell the difference between live and recorded music?
I posted about this a while ago.  To my ears, there is very rarely a doubt.  Sight unseen, approaching an area where music is being played, without prior knowledge, I can very reliably tell if "it's live or if it's Memorex";-)
We need DAC's with tone controls and EQ
And then there is DEQX which adds in an active crossover and more.
Room set up
You need software and hardware to do this.  You to have some kind of unit in between the source and the amp to accomplish this.  Usually that is an HT receiver. Audissey is an integrated software/hardware package built into some receivers with dig...
Cartridges: Complete Scam?
OP- If you are really serious, then the answer is that in most cases, a $1K table and a $500 phono stage will not get the most out of a $2K cart.  And it certainly will not be plug-n-play.  Unless you have a dealer with good analog set-up skills (...
Genalex GL GZ-34 Rectifier...Did I just get a bad one? Five months seems
@artemus_5 - Not to step on Ralph/s toes, but fake tubes are re-labelled modern production.  Wipe off the printing on the tube and you can label it anything you want.  Put it in a plain white box and voila...NOS goodness.  Also pulls sold as NOS. ...
What is your favorite budget audio component?
If the rest of your system is a good match and you only have 1 source, the Lightspeed passive LDR pre-amp is "stupid-good" at about 1/2 kilo-buck!  Not quite as good as my 20X price actives, but surely a bargain of the century.  Used Vandersteen 2...
Power Wedge 116
Some people have used Humbusters for that kind of problem, but they will only work if the hum is a result of "dirty" AC power.  Folks report variable results.
Cartridges: Complete Scam?
OP- you got a lot of sarcastic responses to your original post, which many interpreted as trolling. Assuming that is not the case, then the answer is "It depends". It depends on the resolution of the rest of your system and how carefully it is set...
