A A Capitole MKii Upgrade/Update You couldn't pry my Cap MKI away from me- added a top quality passive, and that was the ticket- new version mucho denaro anyways...
A Challenge: CD with volume, passive or preamp can't make it, as I live up here in Canada- but can give some feedback on this issue. I have the Audio Aero Capitole CDP, and noticed improved clarity upon adding a very good custom-built passive pre in the chain- I now believe the Cap's analog vo...
5 most overrated movies ever...... Ben- you are f*****g HILARIOUS!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! I just read your entire post to my girlfriend (we are both movie buffs- and take a week off every year here in Toronto for the International Festival), and she was almost on the floor with laughter. Du...
Need amp suggestions for Totem-based setup forget it- not enough $$. I have 5 Totem Mani-2's in my HT system, and use the Theta Dreadnaught (400 wpc into 4 ohms- ~ $6k) with good success. Save up and spend more $$ on a better amp- you won't be disappointed
Analog Pass Thru I upgraded from my Citation 5.0 to the Sim Audio Attraction- now with true analog pass through; balanced outputs, and the best analog section of any processor, combined with super-low noise floor
What are the best amps for driving Totem Mani 2s? I have 5 Mani-2's in my home theater system, and used to use them for 2-channel. The Sim W5 is an excellent recommendation, however, it is NOT true that they can not sound excellent with tubes as well- I am currently driving a pair of them with a ...
Capitole owners- any benefits to external preamp?? Mike- I spoke with Steve Huntley at Great Northern Sound yesterday about his upcoming upgrade mod for the Cap Gen 1- it sounds cool, and I will post a review if I end up springing for it...
Capitole owners- any benefits to external preamp?? yikes- Valhalla's??!! What are the IC's worth (both pairs together)
Sim Eclipse cd or Emc1.cd player which one Costa does price his upgrades somewhat higher than I would like. I have their excellent 'Attraction' HT processor- excellent analog section, and runs fully balanced outs on all 6 channels, HOWEVER, just to do a small upgrade to the digital board, ...
Sim Eclipse cd or Emc1.cd player which one Lgregoir- I would LOVE to still have my Eclipse on hand to do a test of it as a transport only, using the digital 'in' on the Capitole. Why? Because as a TRANSPORT, the Eclipse is KILLER, extremely well built with a huge outboard power supply. Jus...
Capitole owners- any benefits to external preamp?? Mike- where is 'unity gain' on the Cap dial? I assumed that if adding external preamp, I would simply crank the Cap's volume control all the way, then attenuate with the Placette's volume- no??Secondly, what interconnects did you use (since with t...
Anyone compare Sim Audio Ecplise to Audio Aero 24/ Yes- extensively. I used to own the Eclipse, and now own the Capitole. Eclipse- awesome bass, better 'air', micro-detail retrieval excellent on both. Capitole- more organic and natural midrange, more 'intimate' experience, most analog-like digital...
Capitole owners- any benefits to external preamp?? Thanks Mes- are you a fellow Canuck? :) Yup- we'll all be watchin' the big game tonight. Hey- I have heard that the addition of the Placette Passive to the Cap provides even greater clarity (with perhaps a touch less bloom). Only prob- another set...
AudioMeca vs. AudioAero vs. Electrocompaniet Thanks Bryan (re: the powercord recommendations). I have spoken with Stewart at SOS, and done my research (I know another owner who has tried EVERYTHING and swears by hos Electraglide PC's), and apparently the new Electraglide stuff is a notch abo... |
