Question about polarity-inverting preamps Is that really "phase inversion" with the Atma & SF preamps, or are those switches really reversing the phase as in polarity?? If so, not exactly the same thing. We had a discussion on this a week ago. Search the other threads. Those that own t...
Where can I get RAM super low noise tubes? RAM does not make tubes, they buy tubes and put them through extensive testing and grading. So when you buy a SLN, LN, or SG tube; while the SLN will be the better types, you may also find the same brand at different grades; because some do not te...

Question about polarity-inverting preamps The above have it correct. Conrad Johnson and Blue Circle preamps are out of phase for this reason (less is more) and are among the best. My moving coil phono stage is out of phase. Since moving coil cartridges have such a low output, adding the a...

Which cables and ic's would you choose? My system is nothing like yours, but I will second Famaraca's recommendation of the Siltech SQ-28G3 as a nice cable.
DVD vs. LD visually. I still occassionally pick up a few LDs on eBay as well.
Speakers with built in subs? If lack of space is an issue, I think those kind of speakers are a good idea. The only ones I have heard are the B&W 600 series ones, the DM605 I think.
What would you do about a sleazy buyer?? I am sorry for what happened and understand your frustration. You could have punched him in the nose, but I guess him being a lawyer, it would not be a good idea. I guess he could have lied and said he did not like how your gear sounded. Now I gue...
Best Sounding used amplifier under 1000??? The CJ amps are nice. You could also pick up a used Adcom for $200 to $500 depending on how much power you need, and send it to Stan Warren for modification.
Is their any way to keep voltage steady? Equi=Tech Balanced Power....http://www.equitech.com/
DVD vs. LD visually. Definitely keep both. Depends on the movie. I find some movies are worse on DVD compared to LD, probably because of the compression to get a long movie on one side of the DVD with all the extra features.
Vandersteen or REL or.......?????? Think small Maggieowner may be getting REL confused with Vandersteen I think. The Vandersteen 2Wq is an audio sub, but we are talking about the REL Q subs (Q150E, Q200E, Q201E) which are their HT subs. I own both kinds. The REL ST subs are the audiophile subs...
REL Stadium III vs. Stadium II differences? I also believe the earlier Stadiums had 100 watt amps. The Stadium III is 200 watts. See info at:http://www.rel.net/products/StadiumIII.shtmlhttp://www.rel.net/products/discontinued_strange.shtml
REL Stadium III vs. Stadium II differences? I would talk to Ambrosia Audio in LA (Ambrosia.com). They are a long time REL dealer and very knowledgeable and helpful.I do know they improved the circuitry for changing the frequency cut-off/cross-over. This is the same for all REL ST-IIIs. It m... |
