Barber's Adagio for Strings
If you like this piece, then look for the Barber arrangement for unaccompanied chorus (acappella) recorded by Robert Shaw. This music with voices in place of strings is one of my favorites. It is titled "Agnus Dei", and is available on a Robert Sha...

Seantaylor, just kidding. I was just having some fun with the "noone" as a one syllable word. From some reading I have done, Decca has some great engineers in London in the 40s through the 60s who really cared about quality and accuracy. I agree w...
Best speakers for amp
Better speakers can only hurt if they reveal shortcomings in your other gear. The CDM-1NT would be fine with your setup. Have you heard the new B&W 600 series 3? In the past I have purchased Vandenhul new, directly from the US importer in New ...
Do "Tube Rings" really work?
Sometimes a tiny bit of microphonics is not all bad (makes music sterile/lifeless with the rings). It may really depend on whether you have a microphonic problem. If not, then you'll may not notice anything with the rings. No different than those ...
Best speakers for amp
Your system is very well matched/balanced as it is. I was just commenting that the speakers are not the limiting factor here. Your cable upgrades suggestions are also a good match for that level of equipment, so maybe you should start there. It yo...
No bass for HT with Vandersteen 2wq...
I agree; great answer. Sdcampbell really knows his Vandersteen subs. The REL's have a phase switch, so it is easy to determine which phase is correct without a lot of fuss. You don't need a crossover with a REL either. You can adjust the crossover...

Best speakers for amp
I don't believe you will yield much of a benefit if any from more expensive speakers being powered by your current amp and source. However, a better amp and CD will sound better through the speakers you have. Finally, what are you using for cables?
Are "Used" Revel Studios worth the money??
How much money ????
What are the best sounding classical CDs
Bioman, I agree with you. Without naming names, some DG reissues came to mind in my second post about the Penguin guide. Older DG is better. I have not cared for too many of those "DG Originals" CDs that look like an LP. I have some I like for the...
What are the best sounding classical CDs
As far as the Penguin guide mentioned above: I personally find that they do a very very good job of choosing good performances; but do not do such a good job on sound quality. I suspect that the systems that some reviewers use are mid-fi at best, ...
What are the best sounding classical CDs
My general rule of thumb for sound quality (ignoring the performance) for a high end system, is to avoid Deutche Grammonphon CDs. While there are a few good ones; generally the way they are engineered they sound great in a budget system, boombox, ...

The Vandy is a nice subwoofer. However, the easiest way to solve all of your integration problems is the get a REL subwoofer.
Cambridge or Music Hall??
If you have narrowed it down to two, then let your ears be the final judge. The Cambridge is helped a lot by a better power cord. Does not have to be an expensive one. They just give a pretty cheap one with the unit.
