one or two Sub-woofers? I agree that one great sub is better than two not so great ones. But two great ones (stereo subs) is the way to go if you can afford it. So if you're on a budget, I agree to get one now and save up for the second one. For your speakers consider th...
BEETHOVEN'S LATE STRING QUARTETS I am happy with the Tokyo String Quartet.
What's most important to WAF-size, shape, finish? Size (smaller the better), then shape. I once mentioned trying a differenct speaker in the home office from the B&W CDM-1 and I got a "I like how they look". "Cuter than the others".
Pioneer TX 9500 tuner/ Comments? They typically go for around $100 on eBay. Has a 5 gang tuning capacitor, which is very good. A typical middle of the road vintage tuner has 3 gangs. It should be very sensitive for weak signals. Has 4 filters, so should be very selective also.
Why Expensive power Cables when Romex behind Wall? Right/Exactly: The Absolute cords are probably UL and NFPA rated for a piece of audio equipment (so is lamp cord), not hospital equipment. They are giving the impression they are better than they are by putting in terms like Hospital Grade and the...
Why Expensive power Cables when Romex behind Wall? Hospital Grade a marketing mantra? NOT! If you tried to market any cable for any purpose by calling the parts Hopital Grade when they are not, you could be sued at the very least, and maybe arrested for fraud; because Hospital Grade is an industry...
Why Expensive power Cables when Romex behind Wall? I also agree Fletchj for a small system; but will add that simply replacing those OEM 18 AWG cords with similar 14 AWG ones ($6 each), or the Belden Voltex shielded cables ($12 to $15 each) will still have a noticeable change for a few pennies.

Why Expensive power Cables when Romex behind Wall? Sdcampbell... Now that you are accustomed to your system's sound; ALL AT ONCE without listening; replace all of your cords with the typical black 18awg cords that come with most gear and computers. Then play your favorite most listened to recordin...
I turn the big Half-Century today How about "Happy Aniversary Baby" by the Little River Band !!Ha! Have a good day!
Why Expensive power Cables when Romex behind Wall? "Hospital" grade sais it all. Would you feel safe, if the high tech respirator keeping you alive had a lamp cord and was plugged into a $5 power strip from Walmart? Hospital gear comes with big fat cords and plugs (plus conditioning) because they ...
Latest SACD News - Very Interesting. Phillips has said they would no longer let anyone use that "CD" label on non-redbook CDs. There are some already out there has Prpixel notes.I agree that 1 million is not a lot of SACD players (even 13 million). Since we all have different taste, ...
Latest SACD News - Very Interesting. Thinking more about it; I did not even get a CD player until the summer of 1990; or 6+ years after CD's came out. I still use that old player in my work office (Rotel RCD-855). It still sounds great, and more analog than many new CD players. So I g...
AC Power cords, which components 1st...? PS.....I say to start with the AC conditioner/regenerator, etc, if there is one, not so much for cleaning up the power, but to be sure your system is getting enough current. Anyway, the conditioner/regenerator will not have to work as hard if it h... |
