I have dedicated lines, but why is this happening? Maybe the AC's relay contacts are fried, and it's easily replaceable? Nothing like really dirty contact sparking to mess up your minigrid, eh?
Class A preamp or Class A amp So the answer is Class A preamp and Class A/B amp that stays in Class A for at least several watts. I use my pair of Alephs in the summer as they're suspended from the cooler ceiling joists just under the speakers, both to keep them and me cool!
Universal Remote: classy cheapy available? Thanks guys. I checked ALL of these out this morning, and indeed Ellen might like the Pronto for our HT (thinking Hannukah/Xmas), but I think I'll just borrow a dealer/friend's Audio Refinement Complete silver joystick, as I remember it being bein...
Will dedicated power lines eliminate ground loops Thanks for the invite to repost, Jc. I further agree with Flex fully. If the lines are long, using a sub with a FAT feeder will reduce loop potential. As well the 5362 is my favorite duplex (disclaimer: I have a bunch for sale for only $10 each). ...
Best Find Ever??? We at The Church of the Holy 21 saved proceeds from our collection plate for many Sundays throughout the 80s to provide seed money for Blind Billy Bob's visit to Atlantic City to rebuild our church after our devastating fire. We gave him gave him ...
what are you listening to lately? Cheap (3/12.77L($20)) HMV compilations of jazz standards compiled under "Diva", "Batterie" (Drums), "Violon", "Sax", that I picked up at HMV at Heathrow this summer. Only good deal there.
Which receivers have decent stereo performance? For my HT system I went with the NAD 751 (now 752) specifically because of the excellence of its EARS two-channel to 5.1 decoder/synthesizer. Really great ambient feel from two channel sources! I often listen to high-quality FM from my computer ch...
What after Aleph 3, need more juice? I crossed that bridge three years ago, when my a 3 simply couldn't push the 4 ohm woofers in my new Parsifal Encores.A pair of Aleph 2 monos continues to provide incredible satisfaction, especially well served by an Aleph P. I'm hanging them from ...
VAC - any comments? Good or bad. Exactly! VAC's techie admitted that the EL-34 in the original AVATAR was quite unruly, though with the relatively benign imp curve of the Parsifal Encore I expected better linearity. As I remember the deviation:Down a couple dB in lower bass, clim...
Audio Refinement Complete owners: amp power Q Stick with the ARC Int. I found that it sounds almost as good as my Aleph 2s into 4 ohms, but not quite as powerful. So I had to spend $5k instead of $1k. Oh well. I've put this giant killer into several friends' systems (as well their GREAT matchi...
PS Audio 600 power cord upgrade?? You have a dedicated line terminating by an IEC instead of a duplex in a box? Heaven help you if there's a fire and an insurance appraiser walking around!
Speaker cable -no shorter than 8FT? T or F Maybe the powered speakers have a bunch of wire INSIDE the cabinet. Y'know, like our heads store all our hair, and when we get old enough we just run out?
Cable Suggestions Canare Starquad mic cable. Cheap, quiet, and linear. I'm using it on a pair of Earthworks mics on my Steinway B into an Alesis Masterlink into my Aleph P into my System in the same room, and I'll be damned if sometimes my Parsifal Encores (which f...
VAC - any comments? Good or bad. I too expected only good things from my first use of a VAC amp, and lugged home a well-broken in VAC Avatar a few years ago. The long story is somewhere else posted. Suffice it to say that it's horrendously high output impedence wreaked havoc with...
Will dedicated power lines eliminate ground loops Max, lifting the ground is far better done NOT at the male AC via a cheater plug but by USING an existing PC's shield as a floating ground and lifting at the component end (IEC) to further possibily reduce noise.............Interesting thread.
