Is system synergy worth having matched components?
I wonder about that too. I think that's what reviewers refer to as "the loom" - staying with the same brand throughout, particularly with cables. Please correct me if I got that wrong. My current system sounds great but I often wonder "what if I t...
Best upgrade: amp or pre-amp?
Typo - +1 for the MA352

I miss my Loudness Button and Tone Controls....
"All McIntosh integrated amps come with tone controls." Not all of them - the slightly more expensive ones do.  For example, the MA 252 hybrid integrated does not come with equalizers but the MA 352 does. It cost $6,500 (I can't remember the cost...
Recommended integrated amplifier for upgrade
McIntosh MA 352 - Hybrid integrated amp 200 W.  I traded in my MA 6900 for it.  Reg $6,500. New model.
TV and upgraded cables
I recently purchased a Furutech "Odeon" power cable for my new Sony TV and will be purchasing Audioquest's Vodka 48 HDMI.  The Sony is excellent as it is but i hope to see even more improvement - "blacker blacks" as the Furutech ad extols.
No more "High End" for me...Back to Reality Audio
I can relate to what the poster is saying.  Over the last 55 years, I've upgraded my system about 3 times.  Currently I've been on a splurge to create my "final" system. I recently purchased a McIntosh 352 hybrid integrated amp ($5,000 after tradi...
Wanting to upgrade my streaming sound quality.
Although over your limit, Bryston make a combination DAC and streamer that I've been looking at - the BDA 3.14 for about $4,195.
McIntosh -- good for show, not for sound, says dealer
There's a dealer in Chicago who says that people buy Macs for the blue meters but the performance is not that great. Taken together with all of the unenthusiastic comments about Macs in this forum, I m only conclude that it's all about personal pe...

I understand MillerCarbon is an agent for Townshend. He needs to be included. @ PEDOREB    Interesting.  He has been pushing the Townshend Podiums aggressively for some time now. Since he appears to be a highly regarded commenter he practic...
Am I a hopeless audio snob?
Part of an audio manufacturer's marketing plan is not only to make a superior product but also to project an aesthetic appeal.  That is a valid consideration in making a purchase.   Personally, I hate  the look  of B & W speakers (sorry, Bower...
Underpowered?
Upgrade the Mac MA252 to the 352.   I recently purchased the 352 to replace my MA6900.  It 's power is 200 watts into 8 ohms, 320 watts into 4 ohms.  A doubling of power over the 252.  And it has 5 equalizer buttons, just like my former 6900.  It ...

Preowned Wilson Audio Chicago Dealer
This guy has had a McIntosh C-53 integrated amp for sale for many, many months.  When I used to own a McIntosh 6900 integrated amp, I was interested in his C-53.  The Absolute Sound Paul Seydor raved about it just like he did a few years back abou...
Help with McIntosh Repair Facility
I live in the Phoenix area.  Recently I brought my MAC 6900 integrated to a reputable high-end store for repair.  They charged $90 for a look-see and $90/hr to do the repair work.  Unfortunately , you may not have other options in your area.
