@acman3 I’d forgotten I’d seen the Heath Brothers until I saw this ! Must’ve been late seventies in Santa Barbara -- don’t recall the venue. Stanley Cowell was on piano. I seem to recall them being on a mission to demystify jazz, make it more ac...

@curiousjim You might enjoy perusing the discography on Hancock’s own website -- it has the covers displayed graphically.  Click on each cover for notes. This is an entertaining and very easy way to research his recordings all in one place. Not ...
Benchmark Media Systems. Right or wrong
Why is it that such opinions are most often delivered with a large helping of condescension? It's as much about the writer's "wisdom"(ego) vs. "audiophools" as it is about the gear-- perhaps more.
Guess who has new speakers in their lab?
Let's see... Jay, of all people, acquires more, really expensive audio toys. What a surprise! Apparently, we're supposed to get REALLY excited about this. Why?  For no reason other than it's Jay, apparently.  No harm in being a fanboy, I guess....
Anybody have Experience with Alta Audio Alyssa Speaker
@tjraubacher  So, what's next in your search??? Are you lucky enough to live near to a Joseph dealer who has Pulsars in stock? I'm not ;o\ I contacted Joseph and was told they have no dealers in N. CA !

@csmgolf  It sounded like the midrange driver did not correctly meet the tweeter making vocals seem recessed / distant / veiled. There was a suckout that just didn't work for me. The Stereophile measurements of the Alyssa not only show the sucko...
Dickie Betts died earlier today at 80 years of age
I recall an interview in which he said "my sh*t is so simple, anyone could play it". Such humility from a guy who was able to convincingly share guitar duties with Skydog! No small feat! I’ve always regarded his solo on Stormy Monday as a masterf...
A good cd transport for my Chord HugoTT2 DAC with Chord M-Scaler
I went from 260D to Jay's cdt2mklll.  I don't know whether this is  technically accurate way to describe the difference I heard but it sounded like the Jay's simply gleaned more data from the disc. The difference was not subtle. I'd be sorely te...

@daledeee1  Have you heard Ripe?  https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=4QpoQRIVTtA
Am I right for this forum?
@snilf Simple question: how often, when listening to music, are you distracted by thoughts about the sound of your system -- especially thoughts tinged with dissatisfaction? If you really are a "pure" music lover, who doesn’t fixate on sonics, ...

@mahgister  Jazz is way more powerful than we may think because it can transform any piece of music in something different and not less beautiful, proving to us that music is more than the sums of his parts. Beautifully said!

@tjraubacher Just found the Stereophile follow-up review, responding to H. Reichart’s original : https://www.stereophile.com/content/alta-audio-alyssa-loudspeaker-jim-austin-december-2020 What seems odd, given what YouTube reviewers have repor...

Qualities Of An End-game System
@hilde45  New experiences changed my feelings. They alerted me to richer experiences I could strive for.  I suppose the statement is still true, but I made the mistake of thinking I felt something capable of ending my search and I was wrong. ...

@mahgister Another excellent late-period Mariano: "Savannah Samurai" !
