@acman3  Thanks for posting the Bob Berg performances -- very enjoyable!

@frogman  Miles himself seems to have been fond of that term, which he used as an expression of deep appreciation. Re: Bob Berg, those interested in checking out his mainstream side might enjoy "Another Standard". No doubt you can recommend a re...

@frogman  I like Berg, but until you pointed them out, hadn't recognized the commonalities shared with Thomas, who I've always tended to regard as a more outside player. BTW, Thomas did a stint in  the J. McLaughlin band that recorded Live in Par...
The (never ending) Quest For “More”
@tony1954 I agree re: the minimum benchmark. Also, it would seem one has to make a sufficient number of mistakes in order to discover what one actually likes/dislikes! ;o)

Speaking of trumpet players, Wallace Roney doesn’t seem to get many mentions, here. He’s been criticized for "sounding too much like Miles" by some but this has never kept me from enjoying his playing. Two records I especially like are "Obsession"...

I just realized I haven't listened to any F. Hubbard for a long time. Will rectify that today!
Differences between Harbeth, Spendor, Graham, etc. ?
@big_greg  They only go down to about 45Hz, so don't expect them to make your bowels rumble.  Yes; Hz, not Db.My mistake.  I believe my Silverlines were rated @ below 35 Hz.  Paired with the right amp and DAC, the bass is pretty impressive, ...
John Mayall has passed away
@mitch2  Thanks. I'm familiar with both of those.  I actually prefer the live Boston set to the other you mention.  With both, I skip the J. Spencer stuff.  The playing on the 70th anniversary set was better than I'd anticipated.
Review on Linear Tube Audio Aero DAC
Thanks for the heads up, Terry. I'll be upgrading my DAC in the next year or so and this seems like a real contender due to its tonality as you've described it, the return option and the price.  It's a shame you have to deal with the same tedious...
Differences between Harbeth, Spendor, Graham, etc. ?
I'm fairly sensitive to "bright" or "edgy" speakers,  Yeah. I can relate. I'm very sensitive in this regard. I recently tried a speaker that many others praise for its non-fatiguing highs. Boy, was I surprised and not in  a good way.   RE: ba...
John Mayall has passed away
Clapton's playing on that album is indeed some of the best of his career. I can't say it's my favorite. Forced to choose just one album, I'd pick Layla, mostly because I prefer its more melodically and harmonically sophisticated song structures, b...
John Mayall has passed away
I was never deeply into his catalog, but the live Jazz Blues Fusion disc is not only a favorite, but it is one of the best recorded discs that I own live or studio. Great music and great players It’s a good one. One of my favorite Mayall record...

@big_greg Thanks for your input. The Compact 7’s might be worth checking out.  I'm curious. How would you rate their bass extension in your room?
The (never ending) Quest For “More”
@bolong: people with enough money to upgrade have let this take over their ability to just focus on the music. I didn’t say that. What I did say: It’s easy to lose track of the music if you’re constantly obsessed with upgrading ... which ...
