Confused: Should I Upgrade Cables or Amp first?
Yes-- 213runnin--Jolida has 50 wpc. I'm curious to hear how the Silverlines respond to more power, for one thing. TY-jmc-- both amp and cdp were modded by Mitch Singerman who's been Jolida's West Coast repair guy for quite awhile-- he knows the ge...
Confused: Should I Upgrade Cables or Amp first?
stereo5: thank you for your valuable input! I'm expecting delivery of a Parasound Halo Integrated soon from Audio Advisor, so I will focus on amps.
S.S. Replacement for Jolida 302B w/ Silverlines?
Thanks, Lloydelee21 for the suggestion. My "appetite" is not that keen. I've had some gear headaches in the past and as I'm not an engineer or tinkerer-type, dependablilty is high on my list of priorities. I don't care how good something sounds "w...
Power Cables for Tubed Integrated + CDP Combo???

Power Cables for Tubed Integrated + CDP Combo???
Mechans:The AudioArt cables, although proving to be not the best match for my system, did provide quite an improvement, which led me to believe that I'm actually not yet extracting the best possible sound from my existing components. This motivate...
Better Quality Amp with Similar Sonics to Jolida ?
Thanks for your help, Hifihvn. I'm embarrassed to admit that I was actually wrong in my initial diagnosis of problems and that Jolida 302 was NOT to blame!!!!!!!
Short runs of flexible power cord?
Thanks to all. Due to lack of space in shelf behind unit, I've discovered using a short cord would only compress cord at both ends due to acute angles required for clearance, so my approach will be using flexible cable. Will check recommendations ...
Budget Strategies forTightening up Bass?
OK... I did move the speakers; I didn't have alot of room to play with, but now, at a distance of 30" from the wall, rather than 10", the bass is much more defined. In fact, it sounds pretty darned good on well-recorded cds. The sounds-stage is de...
Budget Strategies forTightening up Bass?
Bob-- Thanks. Interesting point, which I'll keep in mind. For now, my goal is to see what can be done with the current set-up. If nothing works, then I'll certainly consider changing speakers or amp.
Budget Strategies forTightening up Bass?
BOB: My understanding is that Alan Yun designs his speakers with tube amplification in mind. At least I've read that somewhere-- that's not a direct quote from him. As for the room, it's an "open plan", so the livingroom where speakers are located...
Budget Strategies forTightening up Bass?
I will explore all suggestions. Although I have only so much flexibility to move speakers, there is some wiggle room. I've e-mailed Alan Yun at Silverline and will get to work experimenting with room treatments and footers first before moving on t...
Budget Strategies forTightening up Bass?
Cwlondon-- was that "good luck" with my speakers or "good luck" with my marriage??? ;o)Musiclug-- I will try brass!RE: speaker cable and power cords, my speaker cable is 20', so upgrading it significantly will, I'm guessing, cost a good deal more ...
Budget Strategies forTightening up Bass?
Rcprince-- I tried moving speakers 4" further away from back wall-- seemed to make a difference. Will experiment further.
Budget Strategies forTightening up Bass?
By tightening, I mean more focused. I don't have much room to play with re; speaker placement, unfortunately. They are located in corner formed by back wall and hearth. Back back of speaker = 10" from wall, side of speaker, about 13" from sidewall.
Affordable interconnect for warm system
Thanks to all; I'm sorry that work and grad school have kept me from responding sooner. I do appreciate your suggestions!
